Hi everyone! I have a Yamaha Clavinova CLP-675. I have a set of Stag headphones and when I plug them in, I only get sound out of the right ear phone. The jack is definitely a stereo jack. I also have a pair of Beats over earphones, so I tried putting them in with the jack and then I get no sound at all for about 2 minutes and eventually sound comes through but it’s patchy and usually in the left ear! I’d like to buy a new pair of headphones with the wire and jack, but I’m beginning to wonder if there’s actually something wrong with my piano? Has this happened to anyone else?

Just plug in the headphone in your computer and report how it works there when you listen to some sound

wouter is asking for an evaluation of the headphones. (Basic troubleshooting.)
But with two phones failing ... this is beginning to sound like a problem with the piano's headphone jack.

Many of the recent pro models don't have headphone sockets, audio out is available via the connector. You need a jack connector with socket for headphones as an add on.

I used to own a Yamaha PSR7000 arranger keyboard. The headphone socket had to be replaced after about 12 months of use. It wasn't expensive. Unless there is something wrong with your mini jack to 1/4 inch headphone adapter? That's easily checked by using another.

If you don't have a stereo system or even a portable CD player that you can use to test your headphones, is there any chance you can go to someone's house or to a store, even a Walmart or Target to check them?

I would contact Yamaha customer service by email and ask for advice. The 2 min thing just sounds weird to me.

It is weird! Something just isn’t right at all. I’ll see if I can contact them online chat or something. I’m really scunnered, as we say in Scotland!

Ah, you're lucky: Yamaha in Milton Keynes will help you I think, they are sound folks. You could try calling them: 01908 366700 They will maybe know an instrument tech near your way. I lived in Dundee & Glasgow both for four years.

I’m not far from Glasgow! I hoped you liked living there and in Dundee too. Thanks for the number for Yamaha - I’ll call them tomorrow 👍🏻😊
