Somebody told me these are “European” style hammers. Is this true? ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/hDcxRJs/B9185124-0860-4-D09-8-C68-21-D8-E6-FCA281.jpg) ![[Linked Image]]( https://i.ibb.co/092bdBy/9652110-B-8-B39-4-BED-A33-F-7-EE679-EFB042.jpg)

Looks like an English company (name escapes me) that Wally Brooks used to carry.

I think I'm correct in saying that Nutone hammers closed a long time ago. Around 1988 I think. The one in the picture looks much newer. I think I've had german hammers like that one in the past. Not certain about the above but memory only. Nick

If they work: they are "good" hammers. If they don't work: "bad" hammers.

I found a partial stamp on one of them. Looks like Mu To. Could it have been Mu Tone instead of Nu Tone? ![[Linked Image]]( https://i.ibb.co/yXVzWzC/60-E7-A6-F9-8686-4-C36-B689-13-C0-DA5-F22-DD.jpg)

Nutone hammers in the UK (I have no idea about USA) were made on the Debden Industrial estate Loughton Essex. The building was part of the Knight piano factory complex. I was a regular visitor and buyer there back in the day. Mr.Redmond who ran Nutone (which had been a part of the Knight factory until he took it over) made very good hammers indeed. They could be voiced to perfection. Manual presses, no hydraulics. 15lb felt mostly. I used to buy his hammers regularly until he closed. I'm pretty sure he closed in the 80's. He also used to recover hammers if one wanted that. Thoroughly good product. I still have an unused set stashed away in case my piano ever needed new hammers. It clearly won't so I suppose I'll sell my set one day! Nick
