I think the Scriabin is outstanding, and I love the crisp articulation in the Haydn, and you've captured a really joyful and playful spirit in it.

Well now I completely understand why you refer to yourself as Terminaldegree. As far as degrees go you have one (DMA), and based on these videos you clearly were entitled to it. I wish you continued success with your teaching and performing career.

Hi Emery,

The recording, piano, and technical info for both recordings is provided if you expand the description portion of the YT clip. Thanks for watching.

I hadn't listened to Haydn in quite a while, but the performance was so enjoyable, next thing i know it was over.

I made a mistake on my first reply. In stead of nice playing on a very nice piano.

It should have been, very nice playing on a nice piano.

My apologies.

That Scriabin was amazing those wild rhythms , it sounded almost too modern for Scriabin at one stage. So written near the beginning of the Great War .,almost primitive .
Did Scriabin forget himself ? .,Or perhaps I have not listened to Scriabin for a while.

One of my favorite playing of this Scriabin piece is by Ruth Laredo on a big Baldwin. I'll now have to add Owen's.

Wonderful recordings TD! It's reassuring to know that one of the reviewers of the Piano Buyer publication is such an accomplished pianist. When I hear recordings such as this it reminds me the level of dedication, talent, and discipline one must have to play the piano as a true artist. Bravo! It was very inspiring to listen to.

Fantastic playing and I especially enjoyed Vers la Flamme (I've already listened to that performance of yours some months ago but at that time I was not familiar with the piece, however I've gradually grown up to like it in an almost obsessive way) and your interpretation is right there with the best! And I'm being honest. Very impressive, I can just close my eyes and dive into the mystical atmosphere of it without thinking of anything else which I believe for the late Scriabin works means that they are played with the highest understanding 👏🏻

I've subscribed to your channel and would be happy to hear piano playing from you more often.

And I'm really glad that you're so helpful on the digital piano forum, also sharing invaluable insights about acoustic and digital piano stuff.

December update:

Have added two videos to the channel, depending on how you want to send off the year.

Some warm and enchantingly melodic Albeniz:
Almeria from Iberia

Some beautifully cold Schubert (that's losing it's mind) with a good baritone:
Winterreise (excerpt)

Open the descriptions of each for additional info, if you like.
Be safe and best holiday wishes!

p.s. from the department of "Keith is right", he warned me about spurious copyright claims, and sure enough, a known YT copyright bully seems to have my Albeniz clip confused with Helene Grimaud's...and seems to want to claim all my massive, imminent advertising payments! crazy

Terrific playing!

Does Albeniz's writing the ending as an sf chord make sense to you? I don't "get it" although this was the first time I've heard(or at least listened closely to) this piece from Iberia.

I only realized how great Iberia is after hearing many of the movements in live performances by Jose Ramos-Santan at the Mannes International Keyboard Festival. I did not fully appreciate Albeniz's exotic harmonies on recorded performances.
