But seriously, this is not normal. I genuinely log in everyday hoping for some new announcement even though I know this is not realistic. It’s like getting in line for the iPhone 13 one day after the 12 comes out. When's Pete15 coming out, by the way? :-) In order to answer OP's question: I spend much too much time here. Much too much. And now I'm even reading a meta thread about my participation in this forum. Oh, well...

Don’t say you weren’t warned, Mickey! I clearly remember warning you about staying here for too long, but you didn’t listen. You just kept coming by “occasionally” (as did I once), thinking you’d never grow dependent on this site, but here you are now, just like us, looking for your daily fix. I warned you, Mickey, but you didn’t listen!

Hello. I am Erwin, and I am an addict. There, I said it. The first step to recovery is to admit it, right? Now, I would like to use this opportunity to share something I found that might inspire some of my fellow pianoworld addicts, trying to learn piano but find themselves stuck on a forum: https://youtu.be/KXVlv1yHBn8and: https://youtu.be/9QiE-M1LrZkand: https://youtu.be/SappngY0ZQ8

@U3piano You don't understand, we use this forum as our excuse why we are not progressing faster at the piano. Prodigy I will never be! It is still nice to be able to pluck out a tune now and then.
All these years playing and I still consider myself a novice.

Oh well, it is encouraging to see that I am not alone with the PW Forums addiction ! Now, to be on topic on this sub-forum, perhaps we could comment about the piano VST addiction

Houston, we have a problem (addiction)! I’m at the point where it’s automatic; yes, I just have to get my fix for no reason whatsoever, and this is not normal behavior. If James announces something new, then it’s binge time for me; If I’m blown away (NV5/10) the binge can go on for weeks. If I’m dissatisfied (DG30) depression kicks in, and it’s back to the shrink’s couch for me! How dare you, James! I’m afraid I might overdose when the NV20 is announced, so I’m already working out a plan with my shrink on how to deal with this situation. I definitely relate to Pete14, every day I check PW, just in case of a surprise nv20 release thread 😇. Am I a hybrid piano monomaniac? Absolutely.
I post piano stuff on my instagram page --> https://www.instagram.com/marchelune I own an old Roland FP-4, looking for a hybrid piano to upgrade to! Current work: Beethoven's Sonata No. 17 ( Der Sturm) Mv. III.

I usually come on several times a day in the last few weeks. I usually check my favorite forums Digitals and Adult Beginners. But when there is nothing new there I check the other forums for interesting topics.
Usually on here first thing in the morning; lunch, after work, before bed. For a few minutes each time. I find it very enjoyable and relaxing.
So yes it is alot.🙂
Coming back after a long while. My recent Recordings: FaberMy recent Recordings: Pianote

I am on here (on average) about five times a day and almost every night before going to bed. I feel as if I know many of you. This forum is such a calming and relaxing place. It’s nice to be among mature, like-minded, smart people who share a kindred love and passion for music and pianos.

I have found myself plugged into the Keyboard Corner forum for years now. There are many super smart and experienced players on it, which I greatly appreciate, they can be very generous with their support. Has a real family/team spirit to it, I suspect because many of the founders/moderators are great guys.
Earlier in the year I wanted a lightweight DP with exclnt keybed. In my research I re-discovered PW and have been mostly hooked since. I like it that PW is so piano-centric, and that people talk about their dedication thru practicing.
But PW doesn't cover all my bases. In the 40 years I've been buying DPs/keyboards, I now have the surprising good fortune to have the top of the line boards (in their price categories): - ES110: love the action and the weight. For me there's nothing else at this price point that delivers, though for the ES520 I'd put up with a bit of weight in order to have upgraded speakers and Aux/BT in. Not really familiar with any Kawai forums, this one has been my go to.
- Korg Pa1000. Fantastic quality sounds and drums, top-notch control surface including for the mic in, and the auto-accompaniment Styles consistently make me think they used studio musicians, etc., but the forum support is lackluster.
- Casio CT-X5000. Not wanting to risk the Korg for jams and family gatherings, the x5000 is a remarkable keyboard. Decent keybed (I'm surprised, arranger style boards under $500 can have awful keybeds), really decent to good sounds (doesn't hold a candle to my Pa1000, but that is 4xs the price), outstanding built-in speakers (at this price point), etc., just an altogether fun and lightweight board. The Casio forum is great, they have a guy, Brad Saucier, that has an answer to pretty much any question.
Really enjoyed the recent discussion on the topic of how soon you upgraded your AP/DP. Lots of revealing stories, threads like that keep me coming back for more!

On behalf of the community I would like to thank Randyman and Marla Jacks Piano for their kind words. Whilst it’s true that we are well-endowed geniuses we are also humble people living in peace amongst the trees. We live only to serve the community; for you see, we are one for all and all for one (excepting Abdol). Granted, you will find the occasional black sheep (Abdol); but this here place, whilst addictive and sometimes vindictive, can also be loving, caring, and above all, inspirational. Yours truly, Ben Dover (recovering addict)

That seems like a useful study. If my life gets ruined because of pianoworld, could you maybe help me out with confronting the owner with some law sh!t?

I don't think you have a viable cause of action. Nevertheless, perhaps a warning label like on cigarettes is in order: "PW is addictive" or such?

Yes, how can I help you?
P.S.
You’re only one step away from reaching the light at the end of the tunnel, so go ahead, my friend, take that step; I’ll help you along the way! (It might actually be more than one step, but I’m trying to be poetic here).
Sincerely,
Ben Dover (not affiliated to Dover Publications).
