I've been looking up Steinway Centennials on the Internet and have seen this particular instrument offered at different times by at least three different sellers. I would say it was originally an ebony finish, because the rosewood is very streaky and irregular. However, I've had a seller tell me that is a good thing. Another suspicious detail is the lack of a scalloped bottom to the case. So, Steinway experts, is it legitimately a Centennial? Or just a Style 3 Concert Grand from the cabriole-leg era?

What I was looking for is the authentic fallboard logo. Some of them have the 1880's decal, saying "Hamburg", some have the "Patent _ Grand" one, one just has "Patent" in the middle line. Does anybody know what my 1869 Concert Grand should have? Right now it has the two-line logo as on the non-Grand square pianos.

It looks like a Steinway Centennial to me. The Centennials have the straight bottom to the case. It is the Style 3s that have the scalloped case although they may also have a straight case.
38337 has the centennial plate. It has the wrong decal on the fallboard for sure. I think it was originally Rosewood.

The Centennial we have has the Patent Grand decal, no underscore. It is #35349.

1869 Decal should be the Patent _ Grand one.

So there's a fourth logo, "Patent Grand" with no underscore. Oh, my.
