It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
Not meaning this to be at all political (please!) -- only about the music.
During times that I watch the station a lot, I find myself going around a lot singing a Brahms passage to myself....
I imagine most of you know how a thing like this can be -- you get some music thing going through your mind and you don't even necessarily know why, but sometimes you can figure it out if you try.
So, here it is: Does this theme:
......remind anyone else of Var. 22 of the Brahms Handel Variations? (at 18:44 on here)
I know that they're not that similar, and in a way I'm surprised that one triggers the other so strongly for me, but it does. And I hope I'm not completely alone.
I would also say that the MSNBC thing could sort of make it as an additional variation in the Brahms!
(more emphasis on the "sort of" than on the !)
But I hope some of y'all noticed that the first few notes of that theme and of the Brahms variation show the same shape and range, and even really the same notes -- including, as clothearednincompo noticed (I hadn't!), the key is even the same, so the notes are exactly the same.
