Not meaning this to be at all political (please!) grin -- only about the music.

During times that I watch the station a lot, I find myself going around a lot singing a Brahms passage to myself....

I imagine most of you know how a thing like this can be -- you get some music thing going through your mind and you don't even necessarily know why, but sometimes you can figure it out if you try.

So, here it is:
Does this theme:

......remind anyone else of Var. 22 of the Brahms Handel Variations?
(at 18:44 on here)

I know that they're not that similar, and in a way I'm surprised that one triggers the other so strongly for me, but it does.
And I hope I'm not completely alone. grin

At least they are in the same key, I think.

I hear it! I never thought of that, but they sound sorta similar.

And that's pretty much where the similarities end. smile

Not quite sure that I see it but I'll take any excuse to listen to that variation.

As for MSNBC, that was just a bit over the top in my opinion.

It's possible the notes are Brahms-like but the arrangement is very un-Brahms like. He would be cringing at music like that.

.....although, come to think of it.....

I would also say that the MSNBC thing could sort of make it as an additional variation in the Brahms!

(more emphasis on the "sort of" than on the !) ha

But I hope some of y'all noticed that the first few notes of that theme and of the Brahms variation show the same shape and range, and even really the same notes -- including, as clothearednincompo noticed (I hadn't!), the key is even the same, so the notes are exactly the same.
