This is a new piece I’m working on! I know it still has a long way to go and that there are plenty of things to fix (there are some wrong notes and I had a tiny memory slip right at the end). The Ballade is definitely the hardest piece I’ve ever attempted to date, so I’m open to any suggestions or opinions you might have.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Pearl,

This has always been my favorite of Chopin's Ballades. I even bothered to learn it once several years ago. I couldn't get it to performance quality so I set it aside. So based on your story I couldn't resist giving your performance a listen.

Similar to my experience, the last 1/3 of the piece is weighing heavily on you. I'm not able to judge this but do you feel like you can maintain relaxed playing throughout? Do you have a teacher to work with on this?

Thanks for commenting!

Yes, you are right, the second half of the piece is really testing my technical limits. This is one of my first run throughs of the entire piece, and I just recently learned the coda. Everything is a bit unrefined, so my teacher will start helping me sort out the detail work that I need. Eventually I hope that I’ll be able to play this piece musically without any tension issues.
