I purchased my Kawai ES8 for my home studio a little over a year ago.

In the past couple of weeks when I hold the E below middle c for more than a couple of beats, and then play it again, it will not sound or send midi/usb. Once it is not played for a bit it will play again. If I play repeated E's it is fine. Has anyone heard of this? I really hate to have to call repair. I had a Yamaha P200 for many years and never had anything go wrong until the end so I wasn't expecting any issue this soon.

I would venture the rubberised contact pad is sticking and needs replacing. But at just over 1 year I would push Kawai for free service.

I have owned the Kawai ES7, ES8, MP11SE, and am about to own the ES920.

They are all very nice musical instruments and I always recommend them as good options for buyers.

Having said that .....

They do and have in my experience had issues with keybeds not performing properly periodically.

It has not been excessive (in my opinion) but when it happens .... you need to involve a technician.

Since, you purchased yours a bit over a year ago .... I would suggest that everything is within the warranty period and is probably completely covered by the warranty.

The problem you are experiencing is going to continue to get worse over time so I would suggest you try to have it dealt with as soon as possible.

Good Luck

Could be a software issue:
Step 1:
The first thing to do is reset the instrument
Step 2:
Download the latest firmware update, and install.
Step 3:
Check whether this is still happening and whether it happens on more than one sound
Step 4: use the transpose feature to go up or down an octave: does the problem still occur on the same key?

Then report back.

Thank you for the quick replies. I tested transpose and it is still just that key, it won't send midi/usb to external sounds either when it happens. I also checked and the firmware is the latest. I went ahead and contacted Kawai. I will report back.

I guess it is ok to contact Kawai ....

However, usually you would contact the dealer from whom you purchased it.

They in turn would then contact Kawai if it was necessary.

But ... this will work.

Maybe I should do that as well if I don't hear back today. Thanks.
