This 1930s Matchless Cunningham came up on my FB Marketplace feed today. I couldn't find anything about vintage Matchless Cunningham grands on PW. Any experiences with them? It's definitely got an interesting plate design. Don't remember seeing one of those loop-de-loops in a plate before.

Emery!

I have seen many of these. This looks like it was a player grand originally. Usually the double legged Cunningham pianos were players. It appears to be a 5'4" model and a basic ribbon cut mahogany.

Nice to meet a member of the family living in Oregon. smile

Cool. Are these on your list of potential restoration brands/models?

We have rebuilt 2 of them so far in 2020. They turned out to be very nice pianos.

I am not sure what was meant by that in the 1930's Chris. It was likely a marketing term, but Patrick Cunningham also had famous scales. For instance, the most popular "concert upright", again his term, was "acoustic scale #5". Maybe something was not in the photo that should have been.

Cheers,
