Well, here's the CLP-970, which uses a sliding keyboard cover instead of one that flips up. This leaves space for a decent music desk, and it's one of the reasons I bought this piano back in the dark ages. Is it really such a non-issue for other piano owners that they don't mind the folding shelf on the underside of the fallboard and all the problems with keeping their scores propped up against it?

CLP-970

I put in a link because I don't see an option for attaching a photo. Can anyone explain how to do that?

You can use the Full Editor for that:

[img]https://ibb.co/K5TVz9D[/img]

and then click on the image option in the toolbar to the paste the image link:
[img]https://ibb.co/gZtcLQg[/img]

Alternatively you can just type the img tags in the editor by hand:

[img]https://ibb.co/k1dCLdx[/img]

When it's your own images, you need to upload them somewhere first (e.g. imgbb.com).

P.S. I realize there are probably millions of posts explaining how to include an image, but it's a nice opportunity for me to put things in practice since it's also the first time I'm doing it grin

EDIT: Obviously didn't work.
Feeling really dumb tired.
Will go read one of those million posts. laugh

Hi, Zora, when you have a link to the picture as in this case (with Windows, right click on the picture and copy image link), you just click on the "Use full editor" button when replying to a message and click on the picture icon.

Like I did here smile Note: the link must have a valid extension - jpg, png, gif etc. - some sites may not have a direct link to the picture (the link does not end with one of these extensions) but usually have options to get the link or to embed the pictures in forum messages.

Back in the late 1990s, when Yamaha knew that speakers need to face the listener ...
A lesson they've long since forgotten ...

....they were also using long wooden sticks (CLP-990), and did not stretch.

They ‘long since forgot’, and are now folding their long sticks; however, they’re not stretching.

When people bought DPs for silent piano practice rather than to fill a void space inside a room with a nice looking furniture... laugh

Such a knowledge... Did you consider to write a book about long sticks and stretching? Of course the book should have "long" chapters. whome

I had not considered it until now (that you mention it). Thanks for the encouraging words, magicpiano.

OP - There has not been any suggestion to considering a used N1. Paying a lot less can impact how you feel about your purchase. I know the samples are considered dated but I can attest that they are still pretty good. After nine years, it still delivers to motivate me to practice.

Thanks for the advice on photos, everyone! Yes, I've often wondered why it is that my "old" Clavinova still seemed better than newer ones in many ways.

I've actually been watching for such a used instrument in my area for a while and haven't found any.

Wow, that is a ridiculously beautiful instrument. I love the clean, straight lines and modern silver accents. I've never cared for the look of uprights, but I have to say I did a double-take!

And now that I look more closely, the entire front of that instrument is *suspiciously* similar to the lines of the NV-10, from the front legs to the curve of the cheeks extending behind the fallboard...

The NV-10 ate some protein bars ... and it grew upright! smile
