Good to see this support for uprights:

"New Blüthner Practice Suite at the Royal College of Music
Ten Blüthner upright pianos have been installed within the new suite of practice rooms located in the RCM’s recently completed More Music building development, providing high-quality instruments for exceptionally talented student pianists. The RCM is naming this area ‘The Blüthner Practice Suite’."

They've probably gone this route because there isn't the space in London to build a suite of practice rooms with adequate space for good grand pianos, especially not in South Kensington! Actually the Royal College of Music always had uprights in the practice rooms and when I was there, there was a job lot of SU131 Yamahas which were very nice pianos of course, and U3s, and the ubiquitous Welmars of the day. Blüthner London as it was then, pushed these Welmar uprights into institutions and there were loads of them in St Andrews University, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, all the London conservatoires had them. A suite full of Blüthner uprights is a huge upgrade though, and hopefully the piano students will feel at home on these instruments.
