Anyone tried running 2 instances of the program to mix the classic with the player mics?

I did, and I don't know why Garritan didn't make the mic's mixable in the program itself, but I think it sounds quite good. (on headphones)

How do you do it? If I recall correctly, I could never open up two virtual instruments. If I open up the first application, it hijacks the audio device, and won't let anyone get access to it, not even itself. That is, another instance of itself.

I open as many VSTis as I like in Reaper, never been a problem. I can at least open up as many as my system can handle, without introducing pops and crackles.

I just open 2 instances of the standalone player, it doesn't give me any problems.

It runs fine on my not too modern system as well, no pops and crackles whatsoever. (I5 u4570, 16gb ram, ssd, focusrite 2i4 1st gen.)

I believe there is an audio option in windows somewhere that says "allow programs to use audio driver exclusively" or something like that, I don't remember where it is exactly, but maybe you need to turn that off?

That's interesting. I wonder if this sounds good with speakers. But I've never mixed in this way. And yes, they don't allow such presets to be mixed, unfortunately. But I believe the mics can be soloed or muted individually?

I don't know about speakers, the player perspective is designed for headphones, but one could always try of course!

Yes the mics can be muted individually. I actually leave all mics on in both the classic and player instance of the program. I just have the "ambient" sliders a bit lower than the close mic's on both instances.

There's a side-advantage as well. I have seen some people complain about the volume in Garritan cfx, for some people/situations it is too low. Well, if you run 2 instances, that's no longer the case.

It is an easy way to mix-and-match mics.

Some other advantages in the binaural perspective IMHO.

But...I just use the full>default>classic with minor tweaks, copied from a lot of PW members. I tried mixing around all the mics and never found anything I liked.
