Hi folks, long time drummer and beginner pianist now starting to take my piano learning/practice a little more seriously so looking to get a DP.

As a beginner I'm not proficient enough to worry about the feel of various actions and reckon I'll grow to love whatever I get and after scouring the net for reviews etc I've narrowed my choice down to a KDP110. I'm also aware of 3 year old CA17 in good condition going for the same price as a new KDP110.
Which would you go for if you were in my shoes?

Cheers

Hello Hammertime,

The CA17 is a few generations old, but has superior action and sound specifications to the KDP110.

Here is a side-by-side comparison of the two instruments:

Kind regards,

If the CA17 action is REALLY in good conditions then, at the same price of a modest KDP110, it could be a good bargain.

The CA17 has full wooden keys and the HI-XL engine. It is from 2015 but it had already the SK-EX main piano sound as well as the EX and the Upright. The KDP110 has a more basic RHC-II plastic action, inferior piano engine (H.I. not XL) and it lacks the EX and Upright piano patches.

Thanks for your input, seems to be a straightforward choice then ;-)

I soured over the KDP110's action over time, it's noisy and clunky, IMO. Definitely go with something that has a smoother action.

Not that anybody would be interested 🤣 but to close this off, I missed out on the CA17 and have ended up with a 6 month old, pristine, hardly used and unregistered YDP-164 and matching adjustable bench at a price I was very happy with, managing to collect it today before we head in to another nationwide lockdown.
