Hi all there, I would like some comments to my new piece. It is written in 'tonal' style, a wild dance with moods, easy stumbling, wild runs and finally a syncopated whirlwind... Unfortunately, I am no pianist (but I do a lot of music in small string ensembles with the violin) - my composition has been created with VST software. YouTube Wild Dance for piano

That was a pretty amazing piece. Sounds utterly impossible to play...good luck finding a pianist who can manage that! And I thought my stuff was hard...
My only criticism is it doesn't sound like a piano, and there aren't any dynamics with the notes (that I could tell) so it sounded very mechanical. Without dynamics, you lose a lot of feeling. It's difficult to program but well worth the effort.
On the other hand, the piece sort of lends itself to the type of sound you created, so it kind of works anyway. Pretty weird, actually. But good!

Hi MilesAbbott, thanks a lot for your opinion, this is very important for me. Sure - I'm no pianist - but I think the piece should be playable, the left and right hands are in normal ranges and at max in standard triad or power chord patterns. But sure it will not be easy... Yes, my mechanical computer-piano is a problem, but I will work on the dynamics sampling, hope to be able to make a new mp3 in a few weeks...

some parts sound literally unplayable, at least at that tempo

Hi Cheeto717, yes this will be hopefully currently checked - since I want my pieces in real be playable, I should be more accurate with my score. And tempo is not that important, think the piece can be very nice if played slower... Very sorry for computer-piano speed it is much too easy to set.

My advice: - If you think the piece would be nice if played slower, that is what you should present. It does not sound playable, regardless of whether it is. - the Metallic, non-piano sound is very off-putting... I’m afraid you will discourage listening to the entire piece - scroll the score with the YouTube audio

Maybe Franz Liszt could do it...
Casio PX-S3000 Nope, no issues with it at all. Took lessons from 1960 to 1969, stopped at age 16. Started again in July 2020 at age 67. Lots more fun now!

This is a very ambitious piece of music. You've tried to compose a virtuoso piece. Without seeing the score it's difficult to assess its playability, but the speed is impressive. But being honest the musical ideas don't strike me as particularly memorable. The beginning has some musical ideas that are somewhat memorable but none of them so far (I'm 4 minutes into a piece that lasts less than 5) sound like anything that will stick in my mind longer than the piece itself. Your musical themes are the characters of your drama. In this piece you became enamored of velocity at the expense of melody. IMO this piece reminds me of the Emperor's comment to Mozart in the movie Amadeus, "Too many notes!"
You have obvious musical skills. Rather than try to impress us with a torrent of notes why not try to impress us with a tender melody. Writing a simple melody that stays in the mind is a very difficult thing that takes practice. My suggestion would be to concentrate on that and once melody is mastered you can then bring your musicals skills to bear in a more focused manner to write something more substantive.

Hi Steve, sorry was absent of forum cause of some private tasks to do. Yes finding good simple melodies which stays in mind is extremely difficult, and writing too many ideas into one piece is not good. Thnx for your help, will work on it ;-)
