How exactly do you play with the metronome’s clicks?
If I play 1 quaver for one click on the metronome, how Do you play dotted quaver or dotted crotchet?
Can someone explain how do you proportion difficult rhythm along with the metronome? I’m so confused as I’ve searched online and no one can explain how do you proportion it with the clicks of the metronome?

If you play a quaver as one click — then a dotted quaver will be one and a half clicks (a dot adds half the value of the original note). Click and note played. Second click: note is being held but only held for half of that beat.

It might help to think in terms of semi quavers rather than quavers. Since there are two semi quavers in a quaver, you would play the note for the duration of three semiquavers. (Two semiquavers for the note and one semi quaver for the dot. Practice with your metronome set to the semi-quaver so you can hear this.

The short answer is: the note is held for one and1/2 beats. The other half beat will have one or more notes to fill the space.

The simplier would be to set your metronome to click on the semi quaver. So there would be 3 clicks for the dotted quaver. Once you are comfortable with the tempo, you can reset the metronome to click by the quaver, in which case the next note after the dotted quaver would fall half way between 2 clicks.

You must _slow down your playing_, to run the metronome at a reasonable speed, with one tick per semi-quaver.

Slow practice to get used to counting a dotted note which is 1/2 beat longer. Try setting the metronome at double speed. A 1 beat note would take up 2 ticks. A dotted note would take up 3 ticks.

How do you play 32nd note with the metronome? Do you just play it as fast as you can?

Set the metronome slow enough that you cam comfortably play eight notes per beat.

Get a better metronome. There are ones that can give you 2 ticks or 3 ticks per beat for counting triplets.

playing with the metronome should be the second or even the third step. Counting out loud and clapping should be the first, perhaps clapping with a metronome the second.

I just want to echo the advise that, whether it's a metronome or clapping, you subdivide the beat. I've spent time studying latin jazz in which you need to play montunos, which are largely played off the beat at high speed. My typical practice routine is to start slow with the metronome at two clicks per beat, so there is a click for each note I'm playing, whether on or off the beat. When I'm nailing that, I switch to one click per beat. When I'm nailing that, I switch to two clicks per measure, so I can really feel the beat internally.

What I'm suggesting is that this method of using the metronome to subdivide beats is a good lifelong program for learning rhythms, not just something for beginners.

This is probably the best advice for dealing with eighth notes (1 click) and quarter notes (2 clicks) and also whole notes (8 clicks).

Now, if you encounter a dotted eighth note then you need the note to be held for 1/2 a beat more than the eighth note. That means 1 and 1/2 clicks.

If you do not wish to deal with a half click, then set your metronome to 16 clicks per measure. Then, the eighth note will get 2 clicks, the dotted eighth 3 clicks, the quarter note 4 clicks and the whole note 16 clicks.

It is all basic mathematics .... fractions.

Usually you do this only until you get the "feel" of how the rhythms are supposed to sound at a fairly slow pace and then you start resetting you metronome (as jjo suggested) with fewer clicks per measure until ultimately you do not use the metronome at all but perhaps a drum beat.
