Hopefully it is a quality grand with a shell around it.

If that is the actual piano I would be very hesitant spending money on it.

That is just a few gins talking.

I'll tell you a little about this brand.

They are based in the Uk, I think in Manchester, and I don't know exactly who runs it but they started off by purchasing old English baby grands and "up-cycling" the cabinets by putting them into black polyester, or any colour you want, and branding them with TesoroNero on the fall board.

They've since moved on to buying un-branded grand pianos from China, and I don't know what factory but it's not one of the good factories like Hailun, Pearl River or Parsons, and they then have these cases built around the piano and they're marketing them for exorbitant prices, starting at 100k GBP for what is basically a big steaming pile of...well, it's not about the instrument, put it that way.

Jesus, I’m not dusting that.

Thanks for the info Joseph.

Regardless of the quality of the piano within these space age style designs I always feel cynical when I see one. Maybe I just need to lighten up and get with the times, but I feel that it’s nothing but a annoying novelty.

I love some of Bosendorfer’s arty models, but nothing annoyed me more than that Audi abomination. This Tesoro whatever reminds me of that, only worse cause there’s not even a good piano within it.

Are there any piano movers on here? I’d like to hear their thoughts on designs like this.

They must be ashamed of it to hide it in such dark lighting and fleeting camera shots. Kind of a gimmick all around.

Maybe we’ll see one in the next James Bond movie, just before the whole building explodes?

Reminds me a bit of the Schimmel Pegasus and seems to have a piano player system.
As suggested above: Maybe a nice piano for the mansion of a movie villain. If the piano belonged to the hero, they'd play it themselves. wink Just kidding.

Agreed, it is somewhat Schimmel 'Pegasunesque', but heavier looking compared to the Schimmel - which appeared as it was almost floating in air. At least the latter's dna was a decent Schimmel series grand (I believe the Konzert series). Neither particularly to my taste but with classic Braunschweig German-made components, the Schimmel wins hands-down imho.

As designer pianos go I quite like that, much less of an abomination than many of the art cases (to my eyes).

But, oh dear, it doesn't even sound like a real piano to me and I would have guessed at some sort of lowish end DP. Maybe it's just a bad recording ....

To me it sounds like digital effect are added to whatever grand piano they did use. If you add enough digital effects can it make a cheap acoustic grand more acceptable? Does space age cabinetry improve the sound or playing experience? Yeah, it’s another design that puts me squarely in the Boomer Quadrant. frown

The design strikes me as heavy-handed and inelegant.

In case you want to know MORE, here is some text from the duPont Registry about this... well, whatever it is. Check out the philanthropy mentioned in the last paragraph. Too bad another 10% of the profit won't be donated to support all the musicians struggling to survive the collapse of the performance industry due to the pandemic. Oh well, not my money, not my choice. There is after all "the Golden Rule" that governs these matters.

"Tesoro Nero is a dedicated piano company, selling unique and luxury self-playing designer pianos that have never been created before. This stunning piano mirrors the fierce beauty, strength and grace of a prowling black panther, one of nature’s most illustrious and noble creatures.

Inspired by the intensity of a 65° V12 bhp engine, our panther piano not only pays homage to the extraordinary wild cats with its sleek and fierce design, but also to the exquisitely bold Ferrari Enzo, both possessing incredible swiftness and strength. Our customers are familiar with power, speed and endurance, key qualities that embody the majestic panther in its prime

But the wild cats are facing great peril, and their future is uncertain. Their numbers are in decline, they are becoming rarer with every passing day. Rare too, are Ferrari Enzos and our panther pianos. Only fifteen will ever be made. Their sleek and striking beauty, their magnificent power and sound – an exclusivity.

Each piano is pre-installed with a self-playing system that perfectly imitates and captures the authenticity of each individual it mimics. Or, it can be played by hand. The piano possesses beautiful, rich music, and gives a flawless performance every time.

Tesoro Nero has a philanthropy initiative at work with the panther piano. Keen to support the wild cats that are threatened in their natural habitat, with every sale of this magnificent piano, 10% of the profit will be donated to Panthera, a leading organisation that undertakes fundamental research worldwide to help protect these captivating animals..".

I see. The performer takes refuge behind the overblown case, when audience members start throwing rotten vegetables. Meanwhile the 'piano,' if that's the word I want, continues playing.

And the beat goes on....
