It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
I picked up playing piano again after a 30 year long hiatus. Decided to start playing again.
Bought a Casio PX-870 about 3 years ago, quickly upgraded that to a better digital.(See signature, Love that thing)
Then came the Schimmel, more instrument then I ever needed. What a great purchase that was. An amazing instrument with a beautiful tone.
Slightly heavy on the touch but with great control. I love(d) it but always new that it was not my forever piano.
During the last 4 weeks I played this piano 4 times (90 minute drive each way, only good thing about the pandemic. Normally in Los Angeles this is a 120+ minute drive)
After my tech gave it the green light, to quote him, "I think you should buy this piano" I decided to buy the August Forster 215 that was on piano mart.
It is an amazing instrument, I am not even close to being a good enough player to make this instrument sing the way it was intended.
I can just hit a few notes in the lower register and get a smile on my face.
Here is Colin, he made that piano light up the room. Pictures to follow.
When you play, never mind who listens to you. R.Schumann.

Wow đ. What a gorgeous sounding and looking piano. Reading your post âI just hit a few notes in the lower register and get a smile on my faceâ made me smile. True piano love is a wonderful thing â€ïž Itâs the way life should be. You may not play this piano to its full potential, but the joy of playing it will help you get there.
I am so very happy for you!
"Music, rich, full of feeling, not soulless, is like a crystal on which the sun falls and brings forth from it a whole rainbow" - F. Chopin "I never dreamt with my own two hands I could touch the sky" - Sappho
Congratulations ! A beautiful sounding piano is everything ! I am glad you went ahead and bought your dream piano. You no doubt will miss the Schimmel, one gets strongly attached to these instruments, yet the August Forster will no doubt give you a new joy that will make up for that. Wishing you many wonderful hours of playing your Forster piano !

Congratulations from one 215 owner to another!, everyone that has heard a 215 that I've met has been smitten by them. Please post photos when you are able to.
Wow, Learux, your new piano is a true beauty, congratulations! Being 219 cm long the AF215 is a serious contender to the Sauter Omega (220 cm), and is one of my dream pianos, alongside Bösendorfer 225 and Steingraber 212. Pretty sure that many more smiles are coming to cheer you up. All the best.
Wow! Iâll say yes indeed you did something special. Congratulations on your August Forester! Sounds gorgeous through my Sony headphones! Are you trading in or selling the Schimmel? I love Schimmels too.

Wow! Nice piano. Nice advertisement as well. That's a beautiful instrument and would love to learn more about your piano when it arrives. Congratulations!
Working on:
Bach/Busoni Chaconne in D minor BWV 1004 Preludio: Bach/Rachmaninoff E Major Sonata for Violin Chopin: G Minor Ballade
Congratulations on your August Förster 215! Naturally I'm biased as I own one and love it; it really is a wonderful instrument. They are so hard to find in the USA, so you're lucky to have nabbed one.
Got any other test material? The one low note in the recording sounds rather delicious, but with a prelude that's so chordal and located in the middle of the piano, all my fussy brain wanted to do was pick apart the tuning...
I'm really happy that you've found what seems to be your "forever" piano!
Hi Learux - how are your enjoying your AF215?, thought I'd give this thread a bump in the hope that we could see a few photos in its new home and hear your feedback!
