These are the first two arrangements I've ever done for piano. I might post recordings on youtube, but all I have right now are scores. Hoping for some comments or suggestions!

Yes, you did a great job. Now you should start weeding out the extra notes, and there are a lot of them.

Beautiful, a bit of sadness and very emotional, exactly to my taste.

Rise and succeed in your way.

Thank you! Can you elaborate on what you mean by weeding out extra notes though?

Thank you! You're right - the originals of these songs are sad and emotional. Spring Day is a song about loss and missing someone, and waiting for them to return, symbolized by waiting for winter to end and the spring day to come. Eight is a song about the sadness and pain of not being able to move on and instead getting lost in memories of the past. Many people theorize that IU wrote the song about her close friend Sulli who passed away from suicide last year.

Leona, I wondered what Nahum meant too, but after listening to your two pieces, I think I know...

I'm guessing that by "extra notes," Nahum means the repeated notes in the right hand where you have a lot of 16th notes in Spring Day (esp. fist page?). But those notes are there because the right hand part is representing the *sung* melody. (The other piece, Eight, has that same thing happening, like at the beginning of section F, but most of Eight avoids the feel of repeated notes because you have a lot more going on with your RH.)

Piano arrangements of vocal music often end up with those kinds of repeated-note patterns. The problem is, if you know the original song, and those notes are missing, it doesn't sound right, but if you don't know the original song, then the repeated notes sound like extra (or unnecessary) notes.

At least, this is my guess regarding what Nahum means, because I often notice this about solo piano versions of pop songs. And I think the best solo versions avoid the repeated note problem.... Of the two songs you've shared here, Eight does a better job than Spring Day in terms of being an arrangement that would be appealing to someone who doesn't know the original. But that doesn't mean there's something wrong with your version of Spring Day, I think it's a judgment call...

Ok, thank you for the explanation. Many of the repeated notes are because the original has a rap there, and I tried my best to imitate the voice inflections and assign pitches, which is kinda hard lol
For Eight, section F is a rap but IU also did an acoustic version where she sings it instead of the original rapper Suga. So that's probably why Eight is better with the repeated note problem because I just used the melody she put in. I have heard other covers that avoid the note repeat problem by making up a random melody or cutting the rap section completely, but I want to stay true to the original song.

Also, if you can't see the score any more that's because I deleted it, I realized since I don't already have a video of myself playing it up someone else may try to take it and claim it as their own.

This topic is not for two posts, but for a piano arrangement course. I have already spoken about this theoretically; but since access to your notes is closed; then from memory I cannot specifically connect what I have said with certain fragments of your arrangement. As I recall, the main problems are in the accompaniment , not in melody .
Anyway, general considerations: in addition to defining the rhythm style, it is necessary to have a solid knowledge of the various piano textures and their variation; and this is studied by the example of the pianists-composers of the past - Chopin, Brahms, Debussy; as well as outstanding pop pianists - Elton John, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Barry Manilow.

Just the beginning reminds me of Chick Corea's piece for kids.

Ok thanks, but I'm not 100% sure what you mean by texture, but for the accompaniment I used the original beat and made variations off of it. This is kpop if that's any help to you.

I reposted the scores but I'll remove at some point again
