Hello everyone!

I've been very eager to get into chamber music lately. Unfortunately, the universities I've applied to (at least 2 of them anyway) seem to be hinting at a lack of in-person classes for who knows how long, due to the coronavirus. This means that I will likely not encounter any string players in an academic setting for quite some time, delaying my goal..

However, I am not that patient and do not want to operate on the timeline of said virus. Does anyone have any ideas on where I could go to reach out to some string players? This is something that I am very eager to pursue and improve at. I would be very appreciative of any suggestions.

Stay safe!

Once you are accepted at university, put notices on bulletin board that you are a pianist looking for musicians interested in remote chamber music. Take the time now to work on the technology.

You could also start pursing possible repertoire so you can make a few suggestions

In the meantime given how difficult it might be to connect with some string players, have you thought of the possibility of purchasing (practice) recordings of chamber music, recorded both with and without the piano part, with which you can play along?

It's not an ideal situation because one has to go with the tempo and interpretation of the recordings, but it's one place to start getting one's feet wet with ensemble playing.

Regards,
