We are looking at a KG-2S, about 15 years old, and in a single-owner household for 15 years. They are asking $8500.

I've seen info on the 2A, 2D, etc, but have never heard anything on the 2S. Was that a lesser or better version of the line?

Do people find the KG's drastically better, worse or just different from the new RX's?

KG2s and the KG2a were the most recent Kg models that Kawai manufactured before changing altogether to the Rx2. They are the same size 5'10" Better, worse, different who knows? Personal subjective A Kawai dealer may be able to be more accurate in that they see numerous pianos of the same model. The early Rx2 looked the same as for the harp etc. but the newer ones are different looking if I recall as for the harp

Played the KG-2 today, and it sounds good, and looks well-cared for by the original owner, a voice instructor.

Am tempted to make an offer, contingent on a tech inspection, although the regular tuning tech says all is good.

The asking amount of $8500 seems a tad high, and I'd guess $7000 to $7500 is the right amount.

The KG-2S was made at the same time as the KG-2E. It was a version of the piano made with softer tone than the E version.

Please check the serial number on Kawai's web site - the age of the piano should be more like 20 years, not 15.

Ended up striking a deal today, and as the folks were moving, had it inspected and transported within a couple of hours. Thanks all for the input.
