I found this interesting item in an archive ...

Miessner, who patented the underlying technology, did further development on his designs that led to the Wurlitzer electric piano.

Very interesting! Looks like an extraordinary amount of engineering when into this. It puts my synths to shame. None of them include a radio or a turntable. Suddenly I feel left in the dark ages.

The Neo-Bechstein was first built in 1922, and went into production in 1931.

We've come a long way! Kawai says they have no recommendation on whether or not to turn off their DPs - which means we can leave them on!

Technology these days! grin

Finally the true hybrid I'm looking for !! 80 years early though.

I post piano stuff on my instagram page --> https://www.instagram.com/marchelune smile
I own an old Roland FP-4, looking for a hybrid piano to upgrade to!

Current work: Beethoven's Sonata No. 17 (Der Sturm) Mv. III.

I wonder why they didn’t call it a ‘hybrid’; surely, the term existed back then?

I believe Yamaha has been producing silent pianos since the 90s? And even then, I’m not sure the term ‘hybrid’ was used.

Yes, this ‘hybrid’ term is definitely the creation of kumbaya, planet-hugging millennials! I’m surprised they didn’t add a hashtag in front: “#hybrid”! laugh
