I suppose that pianos which were designed to hang from the ceiling might be quite expensive...

Allison were an OK London make, but that one looks like a spring & loop birdcage piano.
Money laundering perhaps?

Probably not. There are some misguided vintage piano owners that believe their pianos are valuable because they are antiques.

Well, there are some Kimballs I like and some I don't. the most popular ones like the consoles and spinets I do not care for. There are a number of different scaling and they all stink. But if you ever tuned one of their studios, you might be surprised. I prefer them to the Baldwin/Hamilton studios as they lack that low tenor "honk". I also like their grands, although I have only seen a few. And then there is the Whitney spinet, made by Kimball. I think it was well designed, but not always well made. Seems that they didn't try to make it something it couldn't be. The low tenor and upper bass aren't too bad considering it is a spinet. And you know, I don't think I have ever had to do a CA pinblock treatment on a Kimball. Finally, the cases really do look nice, but oh the sound of those consoles and spinets - ugh!

$2,000 for the artwork - the piano is free.

I just looked up again to share that to a few piano technicians in my chapter... and now it’s listed at $3000! I’d take the free piano, looks like a M1, for a good cause if someone can separate this worthy artwork from the piano.

You know, this kind of thing happens at the high end as well!

A few years ago Steinway Hall in London had a painted Model D in the showroom, and I have somewhere a photo I took of it. It was priced at almost three times the price of a new D, so you would be paying twice as much for the art as for the piano....

This one has me perplexed. Baldwin M clearly from the 1980's; accu-just hitch pins, plate style, fallboard logo style all scream 80's, maybe 90's. But. The serial number on the soundboard 367xxx, dates from the 1940's. If there was a "1" at the beginning of that number it would make sense, but....

Can anyone explain this one?

Oh, whoops. I was looking at the Baldwin vertical serial number list. blush

Anyway, $6k for a Baldwin M from 2000 isn't a bad price if anyone in the Philly area is interested.

I find the Picasso Piano extremely attractive although I wouldn't want to look at it in my living room every day.

This one says “beautiful piano” and includes only one, very blurry photo.

I guess beauty is on the inside as they say! (I guess it must be in tune and regulated and hammers shaped!).
