Jeffcat,

the iOS version is not in the appstore anymore. I guess this software is dead and buried.

My last hope is if someone can point me to where I can find an earlier version of the software i.e. a version before 1.2.0, to see if that can help. Or if someone has an older install file, send me a private message and we can then arrange the file transfer.

The quality parameter is naturally bad on low bass notes, that's just how it is. I haven't checked that part of the source code but my guess is it does a linear fit against the expected partials derived from implied inharmonicity. As long as the note gets recorded you're fine, because a bunch of preprocessing happens to it anyways (though ideally, you would record the piano in a quiet place, and it would do minimal "cleaning" to the sound).

Jeffcat,

I do not have an android device. I wonder why the iOS version is down then. Well, it takes time and effort to maintain code, so that is probably it.

Trigalg693,

I know that the quality parameter should be around 40% on low bass notes, but I get close to 0% plus weird distortion for the sound for all notes. High and low. All, except the occasional random one that records well. If you or anyone else is interested I can post a dropbox link with my entropy piano file and a cross ref file of the piano recorded in my DAW, just to see and hear what is going on. Both files should be pretty small.

Sure, I'd be happy to take a look. I guess I've somehow become the active support/advocate for this app lol.

That’s what I hate about Apple. They have to control everything. The EPT was working perfectly well on my iPad but because they took it off the App Store they also deleted it from my machine. I like their products but I hate their monolithic attitude.

Another possibility: it costs $100 a year to maintain a developer account with Apple, which is necessary to publish apps. Typically the developer will link their credit card, and Apple bills that every year when it's time to renew. It's possible the linked credit card expired last year, and Apple, unable to collect their fee, deactivated the developer's account and removed the app from the store. (Google/Android doesn't have that recurring fee.)

Or it could be that Apple had required the developer to agree to some new or updated terms of service, and after some period of inactivity/noncompliance, deactivated the account.

It is true that Apple maintains a lot more control over their app store offerings than Google does. Even updates to existing apps go through a curation/inspection process from actual humans working for Apple, while updates to Android apps only go through automated scans for security and stability.
