Check this out from 4 minute 15 seconds. The mind blowing part is the strings resonating from the digital sound. That is freaking amazing. And now think about feeding VST sounds to that piano.

I’ve been thinking about just that (running a VST through one of these hybrids). At the moment my top choice would be the GC1-TA2 for three reasons: it’s a grand, it has a built-in audio interface, and it uses Yamaha’s “QuickEscape†mechanism; which maintains the same touch/feel/playability between acoustic and silent (digital) mode. I believe the uprights (at least from Yamaha) do not have this mechanism; therefore, there are slight variations in touch when switching between silent/acoustic.

I don't care about the action here, the appeal of the hybrid pianos is the sound: You feed dry samples into it and the acoustic piano part completes the tone. It might even be able to make Pianoteq sound nice.

Despite that amazing K-500 AURES video, when I played an actual K-500, I found I liked neither the action nor the sound compared to my CA98.
I was quite astonished by that as I had assumed the acoustic sound would beat digital any day; I hadn't realized how much the CA98 has spoiled me in terms of sound and action.
I gave up on the idea of K-500 AURES.

Anyone here that bought a K-300/K500 Aures since last post of this thread? I was quite set on getting a NV5 or N1X but after playing an acustic grand a couple of times i kind of feel i want to possibility to play acustic when ever i can but also need to be able to play with headphones.
The price differeance of the ATX3 and Aures is not big so might just go with an Aures if i go this route... but would be nice to hear some more more user review of the Aures features.
I tried a Yamaha YUS3 with their version but it's just so much more expensice... even the U1 version cost more then the K500 Aures.
So anyone here with an K500/K300 that can give a review of the Aures feature? Anyone tried running VST?

I bought a K-300 Aures literally last week. The digital component is amazing- but it's same as the CA79/99, NV5, and NV10 afaik. I also was able to play a rare (to this part of the world) NV5 and the action is amazing, and of course it also outputs through a (albeit smaller) soundboard than the K-300. The NV10 action felt more like a GL30 than a GX-3 to me, but I'm not a good judge of this as I am a beginner. Some more thoughts here: http://forum.pianoworld.com//ubbthr...coustic-piano-a-journey.html#Post3017569Happy playing! Steve.

I don't have an aures but do own the K300 ATX3.
The reason I chose the ATX3 over the Aures given the price difference wasn't _that_ much, was quite simple. I use the digital side soley to practice silently so as to not distrurb family members. When I'm not playing with headphones, I'm playing acoustically.
IF you have an interest in playing around with the different sounds the digital system provides and would like to do so without headphones, for example to let an audience listen, or perhaps just to mix some additional sounds in with your acoustic playing, then the Aures seems like an ideal solution. It felt nicer playing with the Aures than a pure digital and speaker setup when I tried one out.
Unless you're certain (as I was) that you won't want to make use of the extra sounds on offer without headphones, then if you can get the price as close to the ATX3 as possible, I'd just go with the Aures. If you're paying a premium for it, then I'd make sure it's a feature you're going to use.

Thanks Gary for the reply. The thing is that the price Difference for the Aures so so small because it’s not really worth getting just the ATX3 but I will probably only use the aures feature to show of the piano 😁

Anyone here that bought a K-300/K500 Aures since last post of this thread? Like Gary 001 I considered both the K300 ATX3 and AURES, but went for the AT3 because I don't imagine I would use the AURES feature much. But apparently it can't hurt to have it either (at some point I was a bit worried about the transducers being mounted directly on the soundboard, but people claim it makes no difference to the non-digital sound). Very happy with the K300, I play acoustically a lot more than I anticipated, but still use the silent function a lot also. The digital sound of the ATX3/NOVUS/CA.. is good but the acoustic sound is so much better, of a completely different order. Had some regulation problems (slow keys when humidity >60%) but these were fixed by the dealer.

Very nice! I read in the other thread that you had an NV5 for a while but didn’t like the action.
What about the sound difference of the aures feature vs the NV5 sound. My guess is that NV5 should be a bit better since it has both regular speakers and soundboard but it would be nice to hear your thoughts on this?

Hello Boboulus, in my opinion, the K500 Aures sound really nice because it also has a solid taperd sounboard. In the aures setting as well as the NV5, the sound is of the SK-EX samples, they both sound really nice. To answer your question, yes they both have great sounds and you can feel the vibrations from the cabinet. Please let me know what you think if you ever get any one of the pianos. Thanks.
