Alright, here is my singing experiment, numbers 2 and 3. The first song is from “Fame”, not a big hit at all, only few people will remember it was on the show. The synthetic sounds were played with my silent system, the percussion sounds were taken from freewavesamples.com. I am not really satisfied with the sound quality from Audacity, especially the reverb, it sounds cheap and not studio-like, at least over speakers. And after recording I felt this is not really the kind of song I should be singing.

(If I) Dare To Dream

I then wondered if I could get a better sound with an original playback and “produced” my version of “True Colours” (first sung by Cyndi Lauper, later covered by Phil Collins). Since I did not have to play anything myself, I embellished this recording by singing additional notes into the background choir. Indeed, the overall sound is better but still the quality of the reverb on the vocal is inferior to the playback. I do apologize there is no piano in this recording…

True Colours

The overall experience was most interesting. I now understand how pop and rock music are produced and learned about the potential but also the limitations of effects like reverb, equalizer, dynamics compression and “chorus”.

It's almost like a little tradition for me to miss the recital deadline with another piece, so once again this one goes into the piano bar ;-) It's one of my favourite Chopin's nocturnes that are within reach for me, and also it completes the three posthumous ones.

I hope you'll enjoy smile

Pianist 685. Your voice definitely has to come forward. Sounds nice, tho.

Mati, would love to hear that in a piano bar. For several reasons.

Haven’t been here for a while. Improvised as always.

Mateusz - I liked your rendition played by heart very much. Good you have posted it here because there were already two versions of this in recital #59.

Michael - What a nice and calm impro. Kind of chill out music I would say.
