Thought you might appreciate this here. Olafur Arnalds has released new music today but only in sheet music form and says he would love to hear interpretations...

I love that this is how music would have been distributed before the age of technology and it’s very rare to have a chance to interpret music without the temptation to listen to others playing it or having heard it before.

Higher resolution of the score here:

6 flats.... I'm pretty good at sightreading, but I do better with 5 or less. whome

Still there's something compelling, as leemeadowcroft you suggest, about playing a piece of music for which there is no recording (yet)...

Out of curiosity (as is my wont), I had a peek and a sight-read through.

Change the key signature to one sharp (= G major) and you'll be fine. There are no accidentals anywhere.

There's no earthly reason for the piece to be in G flat, other than the composer showing off. There are some piano pieces which are easier to play in G flat (like D899/3) but this isn't one.

"I don't play accurately - anyone can play accurately - but I play with wonderful expression. As far as the piano is concerned, sentiment is my forte. I keep science for Life."

Well phooey. I am one of those people who is a very strong reader, but the flip side of that is, I can only play what's on the score in front of me. I can't transpose on the fly, and don't have software to adjust the score etc.

So it's six flats or nothing. :P
