Hello, I've not been on here for a while as my piano playing has taken a back seat. I've had a recurring ganglyon on my left wrist that has come and gone for a few years, however I've have had it most of this year without it going away. I finally have a date for getting it aspirated next month and will be starting playing again yay!

Has anyone had similar issues and have any recommendations that may reduce risk of aggravating it again in future, other than I suppose just easing in gently and not overdoing it?

Hmmm..I had a wrist ganglion on the palm side attached to one of the visible tendons. It would move as the tendon flexed. In my case I suspect it was caused by playing tennis. It did not cause any functional problems and there was no pain. Had it for maybe 18 months and one day I just realised it had gone.

Your case certainly sounds different if it inhibits playing and you are thinking of having it drained!?

Yes aspiration is draining it. It's on the back side of my hand and means I can't put any weight on my hand. It's at a point where it's affecting my thumb function.

Funny thing is that it isn't half as big as it's been in the past but far more limiting. 4 weeks until they sort it out for me, but no promise that it won't return over time! Even if it's operated on and removed it may come back, so no point having that done.
