Very true. I'm just a beginner and was only asking out of curiosity since I've been spending a lot of time on PM. I have a long way to go but have quickly realized that I need tons of motivation to keep me going. And PM offers exactly that - a structured program with trophies that give you a (pseudo) sense of accomplishment.

That’s why I started with PM too. It was very fun and addictive.

That’s the reason why I do exams. It’s a motivator for me.

Sounds interesting. I'm curious how long did it take you from starting PM/Faber and then all way through Prep A, B, Level 1 and now Level 2?

Also, are these exams held on specific times of the year? Are they expensive?

Piano Marvel (in Firefox) now goes fullscreen every time I hit Prepare. It never did that until today. I can't figure out what button I hit. I can hit Esc to get out of fullscreen, but I don't want to have to do that every time. Any ideas?

it has for me as well. I think it is just the way it is now.

Same here yesterday, I thought my PC was broken. I find it terribly disturbing because the black bar with the text "Press F11 to close full screen" is over the music. Furthermore, I get a bit seasick when practicing small pieces of screen resizing every time I press spacebar. If everyone who doesn't like it sends an error report, maybe they change it back?

Besides my preference for the old way, it also misplaces the green overlay dots now, too.

I had exactly the same problem; I hit the 'report a bug' button, described the same fullscreen stuff everyone else is seeing, asked if there was a way to keep the old behavior, and got this response:

"Thank you for reaching out to us. Full screen is a new feature that has been added. There is not an option for not going full screen. I apologize for any inconvenience."

You can get around it by going back to the old layout in PM. But then of course you miss the other newer features

Answer from Suzette: "You are welcome to use the older version of Piano Marvel if you wish, we do plan on adding the option to turn full screen off, but don't have an exact time frame. "

Basic technical question from a beginner:

So I was doing a SASR test (level 1E) and a bunch of notes popped up on the treble clef, but on ledger lines underneath. I failed the test but I'm assuming the note that was shown right below the middle C line represents a B and one step down is A and so on. Question is why didn't they place it in the Bass clef instead? Are we supposed to play these with the right hand? And if so, that seems to be quite advanced for a 1E level (and I'm not even sure in this situation which finger do I use to strike the A key, which is a couple of keys left of middle C).

I'm in 2C method/technique and so far I've never seen this. So it's a little strange that they included this in a 1E SASR test.

I would say yes. As you progress the right hand plays those notes a lot. Plus it is a good thing to have your hands and fingers move around the keyboard. Besides the easy stuff your right-hand thumb will not be centered around the "C" note. Especially as you move on to other key signatures

I agree with @EPW. Typically you'd play the B just below middle C ledger line with right hand and often you'd play a B written on bass (sitting just on top of the outter line of bass staff) with LH. Keep in mind these are general ideas and you dont have to follow it exactly. Some times it's cleaner to write certain passage with ledger lines or put them in the different staff, etc. So feel free to experiment and find what works best. There are plenty of PM SASR passages where I use RH to play in the bass. No matter what hand you use it's good that you're already being shown ledger lines between staffs as it takes a while to get used to them.
