I believe it's only possible via the instrument's control panel.

Kind regards,

I just do it via the panel. Specifically, I have one Favorite that has Local On, and an identical Favorite with Local Off, and I use the favorites as shortcuts.

Great idea! I think that might be nice way of toggling it. I wasn't sure if that setting could be saved as a favorite either.

Thanks for confirming as well, James.

Press Function + C7. Ohh, wait, that’s on the other instrument with the terribly outdated panel with physical buttons... 😉

Once you memorize them, hotkeys are the fastest way to do anything. Unless it's an N2/N3, then you gotta slide out the hidden panel first!

Function-C7 -- nice!

With Pianoteq, I'm just now learning all the hotkeys and it's indeed very efficient. Would have been great if I could just toggle Local Control on/off straight from Pianoteq.

Maybe an update to the UI can introduce hot keys on the NV10? It will just require some unobtrusive new button on the touch screen that you press in combination with the keyboard?

Kawai has moved on to the CAx9 UI revision now and didn't bother to back port it, so doubtful. Kawai would have to open source their Android UX or something for this to happen.

With Gombessa's solution, it's just a matter of toggling between Favorites, so that's pretty easy.

Breaking News: Novus NV-10 listed for $7,900 @PianoMart!

Owner claims it’s been sitting in his studio (gathering dust?) for a year and a half; he also claims the instrument is in ‘good condition’, and that it has more ‘bells and whistles’ than the Yamaha hybrids. The piano, it seems, is also perfect for learning, teaching, churches, etc.....

Place your bets!

FWIW, I would probably sell mine for $8000. Then purchase a NV5. Why? It would fit better in my 100 SF office. I like the cabinet a lot. And the sound board is a big plus the few times I can play without headphones. As far as it being an upright action, I have played the K200/300 several times, owning a K200 for about six weeks. In my opinion it is excellent. Last, I could recover about $2000 of the $11,000 +- that I have invested in the NV10, including purchase, tax, regulation.

However, I think you may be able to buy one new for around $8000 now. Maybe?

Haha! I'm totally happy with the NV-10, but are the changes 0% that I'd switch to an N1X, or NxX successor? Nope, who knows, right? You know what I've been privately thinking? What if Kawai came out with an "NV-SK" with MPA-hand-regulated action? Or Yamaha an N4X that moves from the <5ft baby grand action to something that feels and behaves more like a CX or CF. Now that'd be something to think about!

Yep, it's interesting to think about the do-over possibilities. I think one person in the US has reported an $8000 new price, but I don't think that immediately makes it the new expected street price. I feel that any price under $9500 delivered is still price a buyer should feel good about.

If I could get $8k today for mine, I would half-seriously consider what my acoustic-grand options were, maybe someone is selling off a nice G2 or C3X or something? smile

I believe that was the dealer I bought mine from. $8200 I think to a member here that lives in San Pedro/Torrance?
He maybe still had to pay the outrageous California sales tax on top of that so it puts the price at around $9000.

Huh, are you feeling OK, Pete? Is your dyslexia acting up again? Here's what I wrote:

J/K, thanks for the catch. I dunno what happened, I think MY dyslexia kicked in for a minute back there. But take this as a lesson not to post up a correction before the OP's edit window has expired wink

I was thinking about this eye-popper:
http://forum.pianoworld.com/ubbthre...gital-piano-prices-paid.html#Post2985915

Quote
USER LOCATION: U.S.
MAKE: Kawai
MODEL: Novus NV10
CONDITION: New
PRICE PAID: $7500 (incl tax)
DELIVERY CHARGE: Included
VENDOR LOCATION: San Antonio, TX
VENDOR NAME: Alamo Music
PURCHASE DATE: April 2020

However, there was a recent thread here that claimed that Alamo Music was making these insane deals that got other sellers mad, and perhaps Kawai US has put pressure on them to no longer undercut everyone else?

In any case, $8200 is still a damned good price. Way better than I got for being a near-day-1 buyer wink

It seems like they were just drop shipping them. The guy here got one assembled and moved by piano movers. He also has a good dealer who will back him up.

Yep I think so too. They were using an Amazon model - any deal is a good deal, especially if it doesn't cost the retailer anything to order/stock/deliver/warehouse/demo/salesperson a unit. "So just order from us, we'll take $20 plus our cost for each sale, and just have a unit shipped out from KawaiUS. Zero effort on our part, lowest possible price for the customer."

That clearly undercuts everyone else, particularly local shops relying on local sales, and promotes a race to the bottom for anyone else who wants to compete with them; that may be good for consumers, but not for the dealer network that supports Kawai. So to combat this, manufacturers often have restrictive distribution agreements with retailers that give exclusive rights to certain regions (so a TX shop can't sell to a CA resident that is covered by a CA retailer), minimum advertised and sale pricing, etc. My guess is Alamo was violating one of these such clauses, and on complaint, they were threatened with having their retail agreement pulled if they continued.

I seem to recall more than one thread here indicating damaged drop-ship deliveries or "white glove deliveries" that weren't...or required tipping the shippers to get things done. I don't know if that all involves the same vendor, but that's a major hassle, and doesn't necessarily reflect well on the manufacturer.

Today I finally watched the long awaited YouTube comparative review of Stu Harrison from Merrian Pianos between the NV5 and the NV10. I wanted to share with you what I think the essence of this comparison is and also my reflection and thoughts on it. Perhaps someone would like to share their opinion on this comparison or my thoughts.

The three main differences of the instruments according to the review (besides form factor, size and price) are:

I. Key Action
Apparently the most obvious difference is Upright-Action vs the Grand-Action.

II. Sound location in terms of distance (when played without Headphones of course)
The reviewer has the impression that the location of the sound is a little more distant then the NV5, it comes more from like one meter away from the keyboard and in direction from bottom to top. It gives the feeling of being in a larger space. It also appears to him that the sound comes back a nuance later than with NV5. With the NV5, the reviewer feels a more intimate relationship with the instrument, because he feels more directly exposed to sound, more in the midst of the sound, so to speak. In conclusion, he affirms that it is not that one sound location that is better than the other, he merely wishes to point out that the instruments differ in this respect.

III. Soundboard of the NV5
The reviewer has the impression that the wooden soundboard of the NV5 leads to a warmer, more natural tone and a more appealing ambient sound compared with the NV10 not having such a soundboard.

A bit about my story, which is probably similar to a lot of you:

I own a good acoustic upright piano, but because of work, sleeping children and neighbors I can only play it on weekends. The purchase of a Roland FP-30 has made it possible to return to regular piano playing during the week. After figuring out that this works out well, playing digital through the week and sometimes acoustic at the weekend, I now dare to replace the Roland FP-30 with a Novus 10 because I am excited about the grand action feel and illusion of playing on a small grand piano, and that with this compactness! For me having a real grand action is even more important than the sound, I can accept that it will never sound one to one like an acoustic instrument.

For a moment after watching the comparative review I felt unsure whether it was right to spend so much money for the NV 10, the first model of a line, when the successor for the NV10 with soundboard would be available soon. BUT, luckily I felt immediately caught in the trap of „always wanting the newest, best…“ and so on. I also think that a "NV20" would definitely be much more expensive and also bigger in size, if it has a soundboard integrated. So in the end I think that the NV 10 is still my favorite, but I will test the NV5 and the NV10 against each other in the store for completeness.
