Hi there I'm 41 years old male. Study piano as young until age 19. After that I moved to apartment and couldnt have and couldn't afford a piano. So about 21 years without a piano and not practicing at all. But have now gotten myself a piano and started to play again and its so much fun. But I am now doing it all on my own without a teatcher - so my thought is this...
I am not a beginner but definitely not a pianist. But would love to have a study-buddy. Someone to chat with and exchange thoughts about progressing and support each other giving tips and advice. So anyone else in a somewhat similar situation who wants to be my study buddy?

Hey, I'm 41 too but I started from scratch 5.5 years ago. I wish I had lessons as a child.
Anyway, this whole forum is a good place to ask questions and exchange thoughts. There are people of all levels here so feel free to just post whatever thoughts you have here.
What music do you want to play? What standard have you reached before stopping? What pieces did you play before?

Thanks but thought of more weekly progress tracking. Looking for a pen pal. I made some recordings on soundcloud and could include a link

I'm curious as to why you think you're "definitely not a pianist", when you've had at least ten years of lessons (I assume, from your "Study piano as young until age 19"). You already have all the tools at your disposal to continue progressing in any manner you like. Most pianists at your level would prefer to learn only the music they're interested in rather than having to discuss the niceties of pieces they don't have much affinity for with a fellow pianist. If you're interested in (hopefully ) constructive criticism of your playing (as opposed to just praise), I suggest you post your recordings in Members Recording - Pianist Corner, where your playing will be heard by experienced pianists. Have a look to see the comments that people's recordings have garnered: http://forum.pianoworld.com/ubbthreads.php/forums/45/1/members-recordings-pianist-corner.html

Ah. Maybe i am to humble. Been of the piano for 20 years and well partly for having low self esteem (never did the full work Where the difference is - I dont know. I do not preform. I only do this for fun. And just started again. So ok. I am not much up for competition and such but was honestly looking for someone who just talk to about the progress one does and thoughts. A trustee rather than a judge and a critic. And can be more advanced or not. Maybe i should post that in the other forum?

Maybe i should post that in the other forum? Yes, try it. Don't be too 'umble - there's no-one resembling Uriah Heep in Pianist Corner. Everyone knows how good they are, and so should you........

You probably mean you're an amateur and not a professional pianist. Many of us started / restarted as an adult and it's common to find adult learners like myself who had some music lessons as a child.
Over the years, many of us acquired repertoire books with a teacher. They are good for restarting even without a teacher. You can find repertoire & song books at a music store rated at different levels: beginner, intermediate & advanced and download all sorts of pieces off the Internet.
If you want to know how well you're doing at the moment, you can upload some sample videos / audio tracks of your playing online and let other people comment on them.

Hi Flygbladet,
I would correspond with you. I have been neglecting piano lately and could benefit from having a gentle nudge to practice some every day.
My goal is to get a lot of the pieces that I have learned back into active repertoire.
