I bought this 48’ T121 since 2011, first owner. Tuned every year and in excellent condition. Recently I found a 1980’s old U3 on sale in a really low price. So I sold this T121 and bought this U3. Sold T121 at $2800 and bought U3 at $2900. By the way I live in Canada. The U3 was made in Japan and there were some moist dots inside. Beside that everything is perfect, which have brighter and richer tone. Can anyone tell me is it worth to change?

If you feel it was worth the change, then it was.

It's not clear from your post whether you are asking whether you should trade the U3 or whether it was good that you traded the T121 for the U3. If it's the latter, it's a little late now to be deciding whether the change you made was good or not. You can't change that, so enjoy what you now have.

The trade is already done. I’m not a professional piano guy, just a leisure time player. So I wanna get some opinion from others about this trade.

Did you prefer the bigger sound of the U3 ? Perhaps you could have got a bit more for the Schimmel.
Apart from that you prefer the U3 so that's the main thing. No the U3 is not too old and you can always have it improved by a good technician.

well, the bigger and richer sound is part of the reason. Typically the U3 is the popular upright in Yamaha market, and it has been my dream piano long time ago. However the old age of U3 still my concern, because it's hard to know it's history.

The piano's history is not important at this point. What is important is the piano's condition. If you had the piano checked out by a technician before you bought it, then you would know its condition. However, that is past history now, and being "concerned" is not going to change the fact that you have the piano. None of us knows the condition of this piano, so we can't tell you whether or not the purchase was a good one. That is one of the jobs of a good technician. If you do have concerns have a technician check out the piano and see what work - if any - needs to be done to bring it to its full potential.

Are there any problems that you experience with the piano? Have you had the piano tuned yet ?

It’s scheduled deliver on Friday. Test play was perfect (about 15 min). I bought that from a piano teacher, who used to work in piano retail store also. he knew some basic assemble for a piano. He shows me From the inside To the outside of the piano. From what he said that it’s in good condition from his inspection.

An independent technician is always the best one to give an objective opinion.
I would suggest you choosing a technician affiliated to the Piano Technicians Guild. Someone unconnected to your teacher for a true evaluation. He could tune your piano as well perhaps.
