Hallo everyone, I'm new on this forum.
I'm having some troubles with my new Roland LX 706, which I bought just two months ago: it worked fine up to now, but this morning something strange happened.
I was playing with earphones, with the piano metronome. The led turned off, the keys started sounding with one second delay, the pedals are not responding, The piano doesn't turn on - as it should - when I open the wooden cover. No control keys are working, except the power on/off. I can't set the volume, the sound, the metronome (none of the controls are working). The sound comes out when I press the keys, but with random time and sustain.
I tried to go to factory settings through the App "Piano design" but nothing happened (anyway, the piano bluetooth works...). I can't try the factory setting through the piano functions because none of the control keys are working, as said.
I tried to switch it off, unplug the socket...but on restart nothing changes.
Anyone of you has idea of what happened? It's a brand new piano, and a quite expensive one...I never moved it, I have had thousand of attentions on how to deal with it...is it possible that after two months it already stopped working?

I would be glad if anyone of you could tell me if he has had similar experiences, and if could give me any suggestions. Thank you so much!

Call your shop support... it is still under warranty.

I think the motherboard needs to be changed.

Roland's national support line is the first place to go. They can give you some trouble shooting tips although this sounds serious (nothing you can do). They were good with me and they will give you your local repair options.

Peace

Sounds like the motherboard went bad. Call Roland or your dealer for repair.

All these years playing and I still consider myself a novice.

Hi
I had a similar problem to you with my LX706.
I Contacted Roland and they sent an engineer out twice but they couldn't fix it.
So they have ordered me a new piano, but thats taking quite a while to arrive.
This has been going on since feb but I think covid 19 has a lot to do with the delay.
Roland are usually quick to sort out problems once you get intouch with them.
Hope this helps

Sounds like they might have had a faulty batch. That's a shame, Roland products are normally excellent.

Yup, could be a faulty batch.

Would serial numbers help people know which to avoid (if it is a batch problem)?

Learning to play. Consciously incompetent, which apparently is a good starting point. smirk

Thank you all. I called my dealer, but here in Italy is holiday time and you have to wait for the end of August before they take in charge a request. I suppose you are right, it must be a faulty batch. My LX serial number is Z0K0358, it would be interesting to know if other pianos of that batch have the same problem, as ThfcRob says.

Thank you all anyway!

Francesco

By the way, do you know if there is a hard reset procedure for this piano? On its manual, it says, go to the menu, select...but how can I navigate the menu if the keys and the display are not working? Can I reset it maybe through a connected PC? I've tried through the Piano Designer App (it seems the piano's bluetooth is working) but the procedure has had no effect.

Edit: I'v found this:
https://www.rolandus.com/assets/press_media_resources/Factory_Reset.pdf

But The LX is not in the list...

Thank you all.
Francesco
