Hey all - if I understand this correctly (as I'm googling it), any used keyboard with an action that I like (like referencing the actions spreadsheet in the sticky) will basically sound however I want if I use the midi output and apply whatever vst I want to use? Looking for a quiet way of practicing after the kids are in bed!

Yep, if a keyboard or DP supports midi out (including USB midi) then you can use it to control am external sounds source like a VST (in which case the sound comes out of your computer).

Yes.

There are some complications (see "velocity curve"), but if you use a VST, the _sound_ becomes independent of the _controller_.
