Don't panic! Keep calm and keep practicing. 15 days until submissions open on Aug 1st, then you will have 2 weeks to upload your performance.

Read all about it at recitals.pianoworld.com.

This is my summer break but I already recorded my performance in June.

I just played through my intended piece (without recording it). It basically went fine. Yay! smile

Of course, I only played it at about 1/3 of the desired tempo ... wink

Sam, what recital is this for Aug. 15? I thought the next one was rare gems.

The regular recitals are once a quarter in the middle of the months: February, May, August, and November. The other recitals (eg. the Scarlatti) are irregular.

Correct. You can always count on the quarterly recitals, so plan ahead! And you can play anything you want in these - no theme.

The recital page is always at recitals.pianoworld.com

But you can't submit until Aug 1st at about 6AM US Eastern time. At that time I will open the recital for submissions. Then you have 2 weeks to submit. The recital will go "live" on the 15th.

I'm tryin' to play mine a third of my actual tempo. It is a slow piece and not a rocker . . . .It's so hard to change tempo and still maintain concentration.

Well I thought I was ready... until I had a lesson with a new teacher. She described my playing as "not too bad, we can fix it". So I might make it in time, might not.

I haven't participated in many recitals, but just today I wondered when the next one would be. Thirty days from now! How nice. Looking forward to it. What shall I submit, that is the question. cool

I expect it will present the usual conundrum of selecting five minutes from over five hundred hours but worse things happen at sea. I played and recorded so heavily over lockdown I strained a thumb and had to schedule an extra tuning, but in true Kiwi fashion, “she’ll be right !”

I'll be in. I suspect I'll still be dissatisfied with certain aspects, but not so dissatisfied that I'll decide to miss the recital.
It's a piece I worked on a bit around 2 years ago, then parked, and have picked up again in the last couple of months. It's featured in our recitals a few times already (indeed that's where I first encountered it myself), and I've found the recital archive a terrific resource to listen to different approaches and help form my ideas about how I want to play it (needless to say there is a gap between my ideas and my actual playing, but that's the normal way of it!)

I'm not as ready as I'd like to be, but still eager to share a wonderful piece. On the other hand, my ears are 100% ready to listen to some enjoyable music. Let's have some fun, shall we?

I have a few recital pieces I've been working on that I've not gotten to perform due to SARS-CoV-2, so it will be nice to finally get to do so smile

Well, I didn't get my Scarlatti good enough for the Scarlatti recital - maybe for this quarterly...
