Hi there,
I'm searching for a new baby grand and so far two pianos have stood out to me within my budget. Both Kawai and Hailun offer great things, but is there one that might be a better value? Thanks for any help you all can give me!

Have you tried the Yamaha GB1K and the Ritmuller GH-whatever? I haven't tried the Hailun, but of all these pianos, the GB1K got my attention.

Otherwise, the Kawai stands out because of the innovative action.

Most folks prefer a tall upright instead of a baby grand... but I think I would have been happy with a GB1K as well.

There is also a Yamaha GC1 that sounds nice and is in the same price range. Best Wishes.

Can I suggest not worrying about the value but just play as many pianos as you can to find out which one you love. Play everything you can get your hands on that are that are within your budget and extra 50% and, as has been said, try both large uprights and baby grands to see which you prefer.

Once you have found the piano you want then is the time to think about value and negotiate a sensible price. Its absolute value compared to other pianos you don't like is somewhat immaterial.

I think it depends on what you mean by "value"... For example, the Kawai is likely to have a better resale value, so if you're planning to upgrade in the future, that might be an issue. This is about value in the future.

OTOH the Hailun is probably less expensive from the start, so if it's of similar quality and you like the sound, then that one would be better value right now, IOW value in the present.

Having said all of that, I know very little about Hailun and have never played one, so I can't say more about that.

I will say that you haven't given enough details.

Are both pianos new? Or both used? Have you played them both? Is there one you like better? (A piano by "reputable" maker is not a good value if you don't like how it sounds...) Are both pianos sold from a dealer? If so, do each come with comparable "benefits" (warranty, delivery etc)?
