Hello

I got a new Studiologic SL88 Studio yesterday. I actually like the feel of the keyboard.

One problem tho the aftertouch does not work. I have tried putting huge amount of weight on it but nothing.

When I first lifted the keyboard onto the keyboard stand I heard something rattle and move inside the keyboard.

So I am guessing something is gone on it.

Hi, how did you test it? I am not a specialist but I doubt it require a huge amount of weight to work. You may install Pianoteq demo or some other MIDI monitoring application. This recent topic has links to some applications.

Maybe AT is not enabled by default and you need to configure the SL88.

That said, loose things and rattling is not a good sign so you may need to get in touch with the seller anyway.

I bought it on Thomann so they are decent about returns.

There is also a milky substance on the black keys at side of them. When I push down the white keys I can see it. So weird.

I shall try that in Pianoteq.

Obrigado

I have SL73 studio. If it’s the same as SL88 you need to enter the menu and select what CC (control change) should the aftertouch be assigned to. And it’s disabled by default.

To make it clear, I suggested Pianoteq because it has a window where you can see MIDI events being sent to it. Pianoteq itself, as far as I know, does not support aftertouch and must simply ignore AT events. That topic I pointed to has some other applications that could provide the same information as PT on a smaller footprint.

Notice Cybergene gave a hint of the cause of it not sending AT events anyway.

Still, loose things inside it are a problem so I hope Thomann will have it sorted for you.

Thank you I shall try that. A quick question. The 3rd stick so one closest to the right is that very easy to move? Just the pitch bend is hardest to move then the 2nd one is slightly less hard and the 3rd is not in any way.

The first joystick self-centers (it has springs on both axes). The second joystick centers only on the X axis but stays where you leave it on the Y axis (for instance can be used as a combination pitch bend on X and modulation on Y). The third joystick doesn't have any springs and you can leave it at any point in the X/Y space. This is intentional and can be used for various things since everything is programmable.

BTW, just checked, I've misled you a bit. The aftertouch is only on/off, no CC reassignment is possible. But it's off by default as I said, so you have to enable it in order for it to work, that's in the corresponding zone edit screen. Make sure you're editing the proper zone. Since different zones can be assigned to either MIDI 1/2 outputs or USB output.

Ok cool same as mine.

I had my aftertouch on after pulling up certain synths it is working only some virtual synths. I guess have to do something.

Thank you
