I am doing some research on this maker.

They were a small-ish company founded in Berlin in 1863, but apparently they successfully worked the international market with considerable success. Today, Westermayer pianos show up in such far flung places as Russia, Scandinavia, Finland, and Australia etc. There was even a dealership in Honolulu in the 1890s which touted Westermayer as "the best German piano for the climate".

Another aspect that intrigues me as a piano technician is that Westermayer was awarded a number of patents on different actions that he designed. These are technical marvels which were ahead of their time but sadly too complex to break through the market, beyond use in their own pianos.

Has anyone seen an Ed. Westermayer, or do you have one? If so please let me know.

I don't have any information, Mr. Goering, however it's nice to see you back here!

Yes, nice to see you here!

I enjoyed reading "The Voice of the Piano" and also your articles about tuning in remote regions!

Thanks, it's good to be back. Heck, it's only been six years....

Now I'd like to hear about all those Westermayers that people have been hiding in their closets!
