I heard a piece on YouTube a while ago, I'm almost a 100% sure that it was from Rachmaninoff and now I can't find it anymore. I've checked all the preludes and etudes but couldn't find it. Now the piece is very slow I think consisted, mostly if not all the way through, of accords. The should have had a lot of octaves. I don't have a perfect pitch or anything but the piece the beginning of the left hand sounded like this : a quarter note d flat then sixteenth c then sixteenth b flat , sixteenth a, sixteenth b flat (all notes are octaves) Does anyone know the piece? Many thanks in advance

Maybe check the "Moments Musicaux"?

Here's one, which doesn't much match what you said but I'll post it anyway, because it's not 100% off:

(I thought it was an extreme long-shot -- I mentioned it mainly just to get the ball rolling.)

Maybe it is! ha

But I think not.

Nevertheless, when he said "that's it," it felt kinda like, there's this Marx Bros. flick where Groucho says "guess a number from 1 to 10," Chico says "11," and Groucho says "Right!"

.....Reminds me also of how on that game show "Pyramid," it seems every time that the word they need to get is "Chicago," the clue that gets said is "It's the capital of Illinois....." .....the partner says "Chicago," and that does it....
