That took a long time Philip. I hope you'll enjoy being back home!

Playing the piano is learning to create, playfully and deeply seriously, our own music in the world.

Unless there's a vaccine available why would anyone risk their life for a piano party??

I am hoping that by July 2021 the Covid virus will be only a memory.

I hope so too but preliminary surveys suggest antibodies to covid 19 are short lived & weak. Recovery from infection or a vaccine may not convey functional immunity.

But it's far too early to draw conclusions.

There is plenty of room for distance at Philip's, but getting there might require some close proximity to other people.

I hope travel will be back to normal by then. How things have changed since last year. I was in London for the day at the end of January, and on my way home I picked up a newspaper whose headline said there were two known cases in the UK. At the airport, some people were wearing masks. The first confirmed case here wasn't for another month.

Well, it seems that as in many countries, although the number of active cases is still on the rise, the number of deaths has not risen to the same degree. The villages in Bulgaria are also unlikely to be virus hotspots either, unlike the major cities like Sofia.

We have been remarkably clear of trouble. The mayor organised Ivailo's mother to make masks for the entire village. She is an extremely good seamstress and it was she who made the cover for my B. Anyone coming to the country from abroad has been subject to a 14 day self isolation which has been monitored by the police.

A 14-day piano party sounds like the only workable solution.

Unless a bunch of infected Yanks show up for a party.

This weekend should have been the 2020 party. I had decided that rather than the traditional champagne in the concert interval I would serve rum punch and even got a Bohemian crystal punch bowl set for the purpose! The best laid plans of mice and men and all that!

Oh well I shall have a very small, local and socially distanced party instead. The snooker table will probably feature highly.

A friend is sending me a Roland ac90 amplifier. Will that be adequate for a jazz singer singing accompanied by the 9' Bluthner?

I well remember your impromptu renfering of Danny Boy. I had asked Veneta to put that in as one of her less serious encores on your behalf.
