I don't know what the problem was, but I restarted and it seems to be ok. 🤞

10 db sounds ok at the moment. Most of the other parameters are set at min. I tend to prefer as dry/close as possible, using my own reverb.

I love the other close mics. It's all great.

I don't know what went wrong with those two notes.

Yes, this looks like the explanation. As I'm beginning to learn, for this and similar libraries, dedicated sustain-on samples (which are triggered when and only when the sustain pedal is pressed before playing the note) can't be readily turned off when the sustain pedal is released (note still depressed).

Hello, after a very long working day I sat down and played a piece with the Imperial:

https://youtu.be/ukj3rrB1EDs

I link this video because it shows the capabilities of having a grand which rather than being brillant and precise, tells an emotional
story. My goodness, the fragility and insecurity in the timbre and sound which can be achieved it just amazing.
At least I like this tone. For example did I try the timbre shift the first time and other unconventional choices.
On my Beyerdynamic T1 the sound is so unbelievably round and threedimensional. What a joy to play...

Wow, this was really a nice recording. I'm leaning towards purchasing the BI... might just get the standard now and maybe upgrade at a later stage. But it really seems like the one VST you want own. smile

Just bought BI full. Currently downloading, will know in the morning how the download went.

I think I will get the refund on Concert D 274 standard. I like the sound more generally than Synthogy ACD and I know Concert D is a Hamburg Steinway and not the american but they aren’t a world apart in overall sound.

But I can’t return ACD now and I do really like it’s una-corda.

Perhaps one day I will buy Concert D again but get the full version then.

Just out of curiosity, where would put the NI The Grandeur in that collection? If you know it. I think the sound is pretty great, but..

Damn you.... haha

I was convinced about this also earlier... I just want to have a great solo playing experience and it seems that I need the clise mics (ribbon, tube) that you don't get with the standard. But for some reason, it seems that the standard would do anyway. Now you made me rethink it haha

The standard version is good enough unless you're fanatical about it IMHO. I bought full today, and I love some of the alternative mics, but they're not better per se.

It still sounds better to me with one close pair and one distant for ambience.

I am tempted to try the full version as my first ever VST. Does anyone know if there's any return policy for the bosendorfer imperial? Thanks a lot! The demos are amazing to me smile

You can get a refund in the first 2 weeks. I will be doing that over the weekend for Concert D 274.

Initial impression is just wow, I got the full version.

This is just a very brief initial impression.

Download finished by this morning, I started the installer went off to breakfast expecting to be ready to go when I got back, but no a second installation was required. I got through that, only to find an Austrian company has produced software that cannot deal with umlauts in path names. Working out why my installation of the Bösendorfer was silent without any error messages and Concert D was working was fun, then working out how to fix was also fun.

Lesson learnt, there is a double installation required, don't expect to be ready to go after the installation is done as there is a second installation, and don't put umlauts in path names.

I've got it working now but unfortunately I must start my working day.

Before ordering, buy yourself the Vienna key usb dongle first which will hold your license and wait for it to be delivered before you order the VST. You get two weeks refund window from date of purchase and you can't play the VST without the physical dongle in place. It took 9 days for delivery of the dongle. There are alternative usb dongles you can buy so you may be able to get one quicker than I did.

Absolutely a good choice - for playability and feel I used to prefer pianoteq but this sounds better and plays as good as pianoteq. Obviously has less flexibility but it's definitely worth the money.

I would even rate the playability higher than with Pianoteq. I experience a connection to the instrument which I never felt before compared with pianoteq. At some point it's not only about perfect midi value - sample matching but just the overall feel..

So what do you guys that own or have owned both prefer, the Imperial or the Concert D, and why?

I know, they are different piano's, but I'm still curious about the answer.
