I am thinking about getting the Korg SV2S-88 or kawai mp11se ! I like portable pianos and the korg has speakers built in although i do have some studio monitors , but its nice to have the option if I take it out to friends and family , the Korg has Ability to layer or split three voices and lots of other knobs which look really fun , one thing that bothers me about the Korg is why only -128 polyphony , and i think the RH3 key has 2 sensor not 3 , I am not an expert on picking a digital piano and its hard to try any out right now in the uk as most of the digital pianos i like are out of stock in my area , so all i have is the utube and i like what i seen and heard from the korg but on paper the specs seem out dated for its price range when i compare , Right now i cant get any of these digital pianos my local stores but i am sure they will sometime in the next few months get them in stock , so its hard for me to make a choice so i was wondering what other people think about which one to get ? or if there is something eles that might work better or the same ?

mp11se is amazing piano, but korg sv2s-88 is also really impressive and for home playing internal speakers are best IMHO.

Also, korg sv2s-88 will give you a sound that is not so conventional, like Yamaha and Kawai, which everbody seems to have.

Can't go wrong with either, but something about having a sound that is not so common is intriguing (Korg)

Hello Dazzie2,

Can you outline your requirements a little more, and perhaps touch on how you intend to use this instrument?

Have you also considered the standard portable piano models, such as the Yamaha P-515, Kawai ES8, and Roland FP-90?

Kind regards,
James

As above, are you planning to move your instrument often? Note - mp11se 75 lbs or so... Only piano sounds important? Synths? EPs? I've personally felt the Korg RH3 action to be too stiff for me... I'm partial to Kawai actions for purely piano sounds, but have also stuck a semiweighted action on top of it for playing synth sounds and using aftertouch... For taking a beating, Yamahas are pretty good, or at least my mo-8 has been retired, donated to my daughter, and will clearly outlive me.

MP7SE easily blows SV series out of water in every category, and MP7SE has the same sound set of MP11SE plus Organs and more.

I haven't tried any of them piano models but I did try the korg d1 from my friend and the keys seem nice to play but I cant compare , I have watched lots of utube videos and its hard to see a big difference at lest for me, maybe its different in real and there is things you just don't notice in a video, so what makes the MP7E so much better?

Its mainly for home and studio but I would probably take it round friends for a jam , I know the korg sv2s has speaker which means it can be a home digital piano , I guess piano sounds are important I like EPS too last Synths, but I would use them all I play in this order rock , Blues , pop , some classical , I think that is why the Korg appeals to me as you can get sounds from the past , but again I haven't tried any of them out and its a hard choice to make

I won't buy mp11se for rock music. I'd choose something with lighter action and more rock-oriented samples.

The sounds, the action, and the construction. As I said, the sound is the same as MP11SE, the action is a triple sensor action (and in my opinion best in its class). The construction and functionality are made to be used as a performance/stage instrument.

I have Kawai DP and used to have the MP10 (predecessor to MP11). I really like Kawai because it feels the most like an acoustic grand piano. But, "rock , Blues , pop , some classical" in that order gives me the feeling you'd like the Korg better.

I think the suggestion to look at Kawai's MP7 is a good one. It's got a more 'rock friendly' action. I forget if it has organs and syth sounds though.
