Hi!

I'm a classicaly trained musician, but not a pianist and would like to purchase a digital piano mostly for my enjoyment.

I'd narrowed my search to a few models and would like your opinion about those pianos.
I'm undecided between some used DP: Kawai CS7 (2000€), Yamaha CLP 675 (2000€) and Yamaha CLP 585 (1800€). I know that the 675 is a newer model than the others, but I read a lot of mixed reviews about that piano. Didn't find much info about the CS7 or the 585...
I was also looking at an old Kawai CA63 (1300€) and a new Kawai CA48 (1600€) knowing that the CA63 is a way older model and the CA 48 is a lower model (but it's new).

My main concern is the keyboard - I'd like a keyboard as similar to a real grand keyboard as possible. So I was wondering if there's big difference between those pianos. Should I go for the high end models or should I go for the cheaper models since I'm not a pro and probably won't feel all that difference and save some money?

I'm living in a small town with no possibility to try a lot of pianos and there's no way I can try all of them in one day since they are all located in different cities.

Thank you!

Hello clarinetist,

May I ask where you are based, please?

Kind regards,
James

Okay, I see.

Kawai instruments are distributed by Piano Centar Zagreb:

PIANO CENTAR ZAGREB d.o.o.
Mokrička 16, 10000 Zagreb, Croatia
Tel: +385-1-363 2773
URL: http://www.piano.hr/

My recommendation would be to try all of the instruments under consideration and purchase the one that you enjoy playing the most.

Good luck!

Kind regards,
James

The CS7 action is really good. I'm not going to say the Yamaha action is 'not' also good, but Yamaha's less expensive actions use a spring to simulate the feel of some of the weight, which to me doesn't feel natural. That being said, the Kawai action uses real piano materials and may end up needing adjustment at some point.
