Hi everyone!
Are there any decent method books beyond 2nd grade with all the needed music theory, technique and essential repertoire covered? Ok, maybe without music theory - it can be found elsewhere. I know there are some books for intermediate students like Catherine Rollin's Pathways to Artistry, Karen Marshall's Intermediate Pianist. Marshall's is quite new and seemed to me a grade easier than it claims on the cover and I haven't found any opinion about Rollin's. Any suggestions on the topic?

The Karen Marshall series looks quite interesting and I would have ordered it had it not been for the current covid situation

Of course you know about Alfreds basic which goes to a solid “intermediate” level, maybe ABRSM 4?
If u haven’t looked around the Alfred music website you really should a lot of resources there

James Bastien has an “intermediate” course which is also quite solid but not well marketed these days. It’s avail over at kjos music.

What method books did you use for grade 1 and 2? This might help posters answer because different method books may have a different focus or difficulty level.

Actually it's not for me. A friend of mine asked for something as a way to continue his studies. He used Nikolaev's Russian School of Piano Playing with a tutor. It doesn't have any technique tips or music theory. He finished both books and left his tutor for some reason and now he's thinking he might need a book for self-study covering other areas, not just providing with some repertoire.

I own a German version of the book, so I’m not sure whether it’s the same one. Book 2 hat 90 pieces (not counting duets) that go from Grade 2 to Grade 5 (ABRSM). I don’t think that there are method books for this level. Your friend could explore the lists of various examination boards (ABRSM, Trinity, RCM) to find graded repertoire. For theory I can recommend this site https://www.mymusictheory.com/. Here you can find theory resources up to Grade 8 (ABRSM). One can learn it online for free or buy a PDF version.

I think the German version differs from the one published by Boosey & Hawkes. Book 2 has 30 pieces and covers the second year of studies. However it includes a few harder pieces which can be reserved for the third year as said in the introduction. Bach's Musette BWV Anh. 126 is No. 22 (ABRSM Grade 2), Grechaninov's Lullaby is No. 29 (ABRSM Grade 3).
