Has anyone seen this?

I’ve been looking for something like this for years for travel. I ordered one from this Chinese site and will report:

https://www.dhgate.com/product/portable-88-key-folding-electric-piano/525880621.html

I have no idea if I just got scammed or not but it was too tempting.

Looks the same as the Foldano which has been promoted recently at halfish price on Facebook. There are reviews or user reactions out there.

With InfinitePivot(TM) technology? 😉

As the DHgate site says it's apparently a MidiPlus ZD88 and might be available elsewhere too, like e.g. Amazon.

Yes!!!!
Mind the clickety-clackety keys in the video.
I don't see them being touch sensitive...
Nothing about MIDI either.

Not much possibilities to play dynamics with that thing, so i'll keep my mini size Yamaha Reface CP as travel piano wink

You want folding capabilities, InfinitePivot(TM), stereo speakers, polyphony, rechargeable battery, light-weight, etc; and on top of that musicality (dynamics)?

What is wrong with you people!

You've heard of air guitar, right? Well ... just get an air piano. Very lightweight and portable! And inexpensive, too!

There are even competitions for air guitarists. But not yet for air pianists I guess.

But how boring would an air piano recital be? Would anyone notice if you make a mistake?

I had a friend who owned one, he told me he lent it to Dave Brubeck and it came back damaged.

Still waiting for my Piano De Voyage. Was supposed to be done end of January, but they encountered production delays, then COVID shut down the workshop. Not that I'm travelling anyway...

Now learning: Chopin C# minor Nocturne (posth) and C minor Prelude (big chords), Mozart Sonata in C K. 545

I tried that once, but it looked like I was doing a Max Bygraves impression. ** You need 'ands..... etc ***

This is a Midiplus product I think.

Midiplus is the current name of a keyboard company from Taiwan with a 35 year history. I believe all production was moved to China at some point.

midiplus.com is the web site. You’ve probably seen some of their products rebadged with more familiar names. I am not familiar with the folding keyboard, but I imagine the sound engine is an implementation of General Midi like the Midiplus midi modules (S-engine and miniEngine). I believe the Midiplus S-Engine is a knockoff of an E-MU module, but perhaps with updated sounds.

Login name is a tribute to Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck.

Really looking forward on your take. This would be great for travel even if it’s not perfect.

Pics on sitting on a grand piano keyboard, measurements, build quality:

My pics of the foldable 88 key midi plus piano

Ok, it arrived so it wasn't a scam!

The keys are full width, which is what I wanted. i wanted an 88 key travel keyboard to practice my fingering.

The build quality is astounding similar to the CME xkey 37 for $199

The action is similar to the xkey in that it is straight down and does not pivot, which makes sense in this size point.

The case is entirely metal. The ribbon between the 4 pieces is covered with hard nylon or teflon like material.

The keys are very responsive similar to the xkey. They are not like those on a roll up piano which suck and give false positives and negatives.

It includes a sustain pedal.

The sound is horrible like a rollable piano.

The keys are on-off and not touch sensitive, unlike those of the CME xkey.

There is no midi-out.

Folded dimensions are 13 inches x 3.25 inches. (33 cm x 8 cm). its weight is about 1 pound or a .5 kg)

Is it a buy? Depends. if like me you just wanted a travel keyboard and work on some fingering definitely yes. If you want lovely sound, no way.

If they would incorporate midi out and velocity sensitivity they could easily sell this for $500. $700 bluetooth version.

Not having touch sensitive keys seems like a killer to me?

Yeah. I've always wondered: do keyboards that are touch-sensitive output differing levels of preciseness of the velocity?
Ex: a cheap korg microkey could output from 0-100, while a more expensive P515 could output from 0-400?

Finally bought the P515

Hmmm. I appreciate your review. Might be good for practice while away. Glad you compared it a little to the roll ups too!

Thank you for your review AlphaTerminus. "No midi out" - does that mean that you cannot connect it to, for instance, Pianoteq?

Playing the piano is learning to create, playfully and deeply seriously, our own music in the world.

A friend of mine has been waiting for weeks for an exercise band set from the "Wish" (similar to yours) website. Constant emails / texts about shipping delays, still in China, etc.

Good luck! It would be cool if it works, sort of looks like an 88 key version of my CME xKey 36 note gizmo, which plays like an Apple computer keyboard but actually works quite well.
