I log onto the forum with my username and password. I see my display name on the right. I find a thread I want to post to and enter the text into the message box, but when I click on Post New Thread it says I'm not logged in and takes me to the username and password page. Of course I lose everything I just typed. So what I have been doing is saving my text to my computer so that I can then copy and paste it back in after I sign in again. Am I doing something wrong?

Well, let's start figuring this out ....

First .... I have never seen a button that says "Post New Thread".

So .... try it again ... and be precise about what you click on.

If you are clicking on something that says "post new thread" that means you are creating a brand new thread.

If you want to reply in an existing thread, you can scroll down and should find a white box, with the following options: post reply, preview reply, use full editor.
Then if you go to "use full editor" you'll go to a new page with a bunch more options, but the main button is still "post reply."

Hope that helps!

Well, then I have no idea what might be wrong.

You might try checking the KEEP ME LOGGED IN box when you log in.

So when I go to Forums and login and then go to Adult Beginner's Forum and into the thread "Post Question" it doesn't show that I'm logged in.
When I go to Adult Beginner's Forum and login and then into the thread "Post Question" it shows that I'm logged in.
So I guess I have to be at Adult Beginner's Forum for it to work.

You might have to clear your cache and cookies from your browser as that is not the norm.

Well, let's take it one step at a time ....

When you go to forums and login ..... does it show that you are logged in ?

If so ...when you then go to adult beginner's forum .... does it show that you are still logged in ?

First I logged out. Went to forums and logged in and it shows I'm logged in.
When I go to Adult Beginner's forum it still shows that I'm logged in.
When I went to "Post Question" thread and it still shows I'm logged in. But when I typed the message and clicked "Post Reply" it took me to the page to login. So I lost what I originally typed and had to start over.

Wow .... that is so strange.

I noticed that you have been a member for a while and have posted many times.

Did this always happen ?

If not .... try to think about what might have happened that changed things for you.

Or just forget about it and do what you have to do to make it work.

Eventually .... it will probably start working again.

If I need to type in a long note, I'd enter it in Notepad and then do a copy & paste into the message box just in case. I heard people say they pressed the wrong button when typing an Email and lost all the text. At least if you type the text beforehand and even save a copy, you won't lose your typing.

And ... the way I deal with the possible issue of losing (for any reason) what I typed is ....

I select what I have typed and "copy" it using the mouse.

Then if I have to re-enter it .... I just right-click and "paste" it back in.

Interesting problem. I usually press 'preview reply' first and then post because I'm prone to messing things up, but this time I'll just 'post reply' and see if it works.

Hmm - it did, so there's something strange going on that could be related to your browser. I'm using Internet Explorer btw. Usually it helps to contact 'admin' who may be able to sort things out, but I'm not sure how....

I tried creating a private browser session and not selecting 'Keep me logged in’ and I still couldn’t reproduced the same symptoms as the OP.

I think that I’ve only logged in about three times since I joined the forum so there’s something very strange going on.
