Total newb here with a soon-to-arrive P-515. One of the selling points of the P-515, besides the great piano sounds and action, is Binaural Sampling and Stereophonic Optimizer that is optimized for use with headphones. I have a set of OneOdio A70 $55 headphones. They sound great on my P-125. But I also don't know what I'm missing compared to using a better headphone.

Is Binaural Sampling and Stereophonic Optimizer something that can be experienced with specific types of headphones? Or will mine be sufficient? I am looking to maximize the experience and truly enjoy the P-515's features and sound and do not mind upgrading my headphones.

Any suggestions, including specific brands and models, would be highly appreciated.

Thank you so much.

I am leaning toward Yamaha's MPH-MT series, simply because my dumb logic tells me that they must have used their own products to come up with the Binaural Sampling and Stereophonic Optimizer features on the P-515!

Using the Binaural Sampling and Stereophonic Optimizer on a N1X on other presets than #1 (which is the only Binaural preset) just makes the piano sounds crewed up and more nasal (in my opinion).

Binaural CFX or the stereophonic optimizer can be used with any headphone. Of course, better headphones will produce better results

If you want headphone advice, maybe post stuff like:
1) Budget?
2) Is practice room used by others or not?
3) What is the max impedance that Yamaha recommend for the P515?

With these 3 questions, people can make focused suggestions.

It can definitely provide enough juice to high impedance phones if you are not looking for deafening sound pressure levels. I had no problems using Sennheiser HD-650 or HD-800S with P-515. The sound was good enough considering that pricewise P-515 can't embed a really high quality DAC/amp anyway.

Thank you.

1) $200
2) No, just me.
3) I could not find that info in the manual.

Remember to buy a male to female headphone adapter as the jacks on the P515 are 6.35mm

Finally bought the P515
