But that is actually a risky option, if my current computer hardware can't handle it then I'm properly stuck without even the VI anymore. The spec requirements for BI look very similar to Concert D, so if I can run one, I can run both as long as i have the disk space.

My question, i suppose John will be able to answer once his gratification has been sated. Is BI a replacement for VI, or are they different beasts? I will be eagerly waiting on his wise words. I assuming John you are getting standard.

I'll let you know what I think Kevin. I'm nearly there (it sped up a bit).

Another person on the announcement thread asked the same question, and Paul replied that this is a different piano, the one at Synchron Stage!

The same 290 model as VI, but a different (and probably relatively new) piano, and different recording stage. Plus more sophisticated sampling and many more customization options provided by Synchron Pianos player.
I love VI - amazing sound, and very easy handling (less options is not always worse IMO). Limited pedaling is its only serious drawback for me.
So, I am on a fence yet.

To buy or not to buy, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles...

LOL, I knew that Hamlet played a sampled piano!

Love this!!! Well, I'm not going to be tempted... seriously!!! The Boesendorfer is probably not for me, sound wise. It's too hard to control. I've played on the real thing two years ago and oh my goodness -- there was a 290 and another Boesendorfer with just 88 keys -- I picked that one for my performance later that night, instead of the 290 imperial.

Did I not say that Synchron is a drag?
Why don’t you guys ever listen!

P.S.

Okay, I’ll keep my mouth shut henceforth (I don’t want to upset any Synchron zealots).

Hey I resemble that remark. Seriously Pianoteq keeps getting better and better. I use it because of the play-ability of the modeled sound and its small footprint on my hard-drive smile

Will it surpass multi-GB sampled piano libraries for sound? I don't care, I use it and like the software.

All these years playing and I still consider myself a novice.

Okay, this time I’m serious: I’ll keep my mouth shut............starting now. blush

Pianoteq was among my second purchased VST (the first was Truekeys but I was disappointed by some little clicks noises which may be waterwmarking or other artifacts). Now I do prefer a lot sampled pianos (typically Garritan CFX, VSL, Bechstein Digital Grand)

Yamaha CLP150, Bechstein Digital Grand, Garritan CFX, Ivory II pianos, Galaxy pianos, EWQL Pianos, Native-Instrument The Definitive Piano Collection, Soniccouture Hammersmith, Truekeys, Pianoteq

I'm curious as to why do you give up defending Pianoteq so easily? According this guy, Pianoteq is basically already better than samplers:

Is he legit?

Wow demos sound very nice. I'm still tempted to re-buy the D-274 or maybe get this one. But it looks like it's a very similar set-up between the normal and full version. For the player sound om looking for i need that ribbon mic but oh so expensive.

Did anyone test it yet?

Interesting, I didn't enjoy the demos that much, while I liked the Vienna Imperial and Concert D demos. As a consequence I might keep to my original plan before I was distracted by the potential of BI, but I'm waiting to hear any comments from those who have bought and tested it out.

I’m in the same boat, Kevin. What to do...

Folks, keep in mind that the intro price of BI is the same as the sale price of D-274, and their full prices are also identical. If you do not buy BI now - just wait for the next sale! It might cost 10 bucks more then, but not more IMHO.
VSL has Black Friday sales, but I doubt all pianos will be included. They had the D-274 sale last Black Friday, and this was their newest piano, so the chance is this year it will be BI. But do you want to take chances?
