Is the felt in modern pianos generally 100% wool?
Specifically, is the felt in my 168 Estonia 100% wool?

Apparently, the virus, the stay home, the earthquakes, and having my elderly mum hospitalized weren't enough fun, so my house has erupted in moths. So far not in the room where the piano is, and so far they seem only to have a taste for the wool rugs and not even any clothing. I'm wondering how worried I should be about the piano.

You may have to email the company and ask if the wool was/is treated.

bad moth can destroy wool of a hammer to a wooden core in a month of a piano's silent. If the piano is not in use as regular. it is sitaton possible even more than. I sympathize

You must get rid of them at all costs

Moth balls, placed strategically, should be part of the solution. Yes they will attack hammers and wool. The moth balls will at least deter them.

Moth balls can promote rusting. A better solution would be cedar chips. Also smells better!

Moths seem to like not only wool. I had a nest in an abrasive fleece (plastic) and one in the paperbox of my internetrouter.

excuse my bad english, I'm not native. Corrections are always welcome!

UPDATE
So far so good, no sign of moths in or around the piano. Even the pheromone traps there didn't attract a lot of customers.

In case anyone is interested for future, my general battle plan included pheromone traps which attract adult males, vacuuming like a maniac moving furniture to get the secret dark areas, smash anything that flutters by, and sprinkle diatomaceous earth in cracks and under the edges of rugs.

For the piano, I keep it closed and covered during all my various moth abatement activities. When the dust has settled, I inspect the cover and open it up, clean the keys and play like usual. Sometimes I shine a light inside and have a look around because clothes and carpet moths like dark and quiet, and I want to make it as inhospitable to them as possible.

I believe that (just like mice) playing the piano regularly (daily) is your overall best defense. These creatures want peace and quiet to raise their little families. Making as much noise as possible in the piano robs them of their security. They will not nest there as a result.
