Hi all

I am looking to see if anyone has direct experience of the Yamaha CP5 and keyboards such as the P515. I have a P121 as second board and, whilst great, the CP5 is in a different league. I am looking for someting a bit more portable than the CP5 for gigs.

All opinions welcome

I nearly bought the cp5, used at my dealers. It had a lovely keyboard, harder bottoming than the 515, and you didn't push the keys as far down. It isn't the same feel at all.
The piano sound was good (I like CFIII) and easily controlled by the equaliser thing on it.
I got the 515 for little more, and it was new. Since I never fully explored CP5 I can't really comment further.

I still own one. It hasn't been played probably in at least three months. It sits in its case in the studio. I should probably sell it, or give it away to someone that could use it. I play the CP4 in the house when playing a keyboard.

The CP5 CF Grand still sounds decent through my Senn 650 phones but not at all a fan of the action like I used to be.

There's no comparison- I'd get the P-515 in a heart beat and not even think about it. Although at 48 lbs., I don't consider the 515 falling into the 'portable' category for gigs. A 10 year old digital, unless it's the Avant Grand, don't hold up that well.

I will say the build quality highly exceeds anything Yamaha puts out today.

p515 is awesome - I should know, I own it! I'll be brief: every single thing on the P515 is better than on the CP5. The P515 is heavy but still portable.

Finally bought the P515
