A jazzy waltz written by Debussy in 1910, 8 years before the jazz era began. Have a listen smile

I quite liked it! I played this piece as part of my junior recital, and it always brings back good memories.

Thanks Bruce, any feedback is welcome. I enjoy hearing opinions. Thanks Jeff, it's one of my favourite pieces, but it's criminally underrated!

Very nice! I've been picking up this piece myself and like your sense of timing and rubato, which is of course integral to an effective interpretation.
What instrument are you using for the recording?

Sauter Delta 185, Bosendorfer 225, Ibach F III 215

Thanks Wzkit1! I really appreciate the feedback, I used the Ravenscroft 275 vst and played on a Kawai VPC1. This piece is deceptively hard to voice, as a lot of the melody has to be brought out with the weak fingers of the right hand while the index and thumb are part of the accompaniment and must be played quieter. Im glad your working on it and I hope to hear you play it one day!

One of my favourite interpretations of this piece is from Samson Francois, who plays it with sense of rhythmic freedom and spontaniety that is entirely appropriate for this piece.

And then there's also Richter, who is much steadier, but is also beautiful in a different way

Who do you prefer?

Both are very good, to be honest I can't decide which one I enjoy more... I think you described them both accurately. There are so many different interpretations of this piece and I usually find myself going to each one and enjoying the differences. Other great recordings include:

Rubinstein

Jacques Rouvier

I also found it very useful to listen to orchestral/chamber renditions:

Heifetz' recording is amazing

These recordings of full orchestra are quite nice as well

A lot to choose from... Can't really go wrong with any!
